Bachelorette Australia – Where are the couples now?

The Bachelorette launched in Australia after we were all heartbroken at the way The Bachelor's Blake Garvey cruelly dumped Sam Frost after choosing her over runner up Louise Pillidge. As an audience, we wanted Sam to get her happily ever after too, so she was the perfect contestant for Australia's first-ever The Bachelorette.

And while the show has done well with viewers, it hasn't been quite as successful as its male counterpart in finding lasting love for the main contestant.

Here are all the past couples and how their relationships went...

Elly & Frazer and Becky & Pete

After appearing on Matt Agnew's season of The Bachelor, nurse Elly Miles returned to reality TV dating last year with her older sister Becky by her side as the first-ever double dating Bachelorettes. Despite both of them supposedly finding love, Elly with Frazer Neate and Becky with Pete Mann, the couples didn't seem to possess the genuine chemistry of other couples from the reality franchise.

And sure enough, Becky confirmed that Pete had dumped her just three days after she gave him her final rose but didn't harbour any ill feelings towards him.

"Although I wasn't lucky enough to find my person this time around, I am grateful for this opportunity and leave with fond memories and no regrets," she said at the time. "I wish Pete happiness and all the best in his search for love."

For Elly, romance was on the cards for a little longer but rumours quickly surfaced that after less than three months together, Frazer had other ideas.

Elly confirmed the fact in early December. "Obviously I am very disappointed & devastated at the whole outcome but what can you do," she said on her socials. "I know I can look back and know I did everything I could to try to make it work so that’s good enough for me."

Angie Kent and Carlin Sterritt

Angie Kent had built quite a following after starring in the reality show Gogglebox and so she was a great choice of Bachelorette in 2019. And while it seemed that Angie and Carlin hit it off from the outset, the chemistry just wasn't enough for this couple.

"Chemistry doesn't always equal compatibility. We gave it our all and it didn't work out," 30-year-old Angie explained to Sydney Confidential. "Our values didn't align. Both Carlin and I will never give personal details. Out of respect for Carlin, I will not reveal the personal workings of our relationship."

She later revealed to Kyle and Jackie O that she found Carlin's religious beliefs to be too confronting. "He was very religious and had all these ideas that I should be a certain way when I wasn't," she said going on to reveal: "I want somebody to love me for me."

Ali Oetjen and Taite Radley

When Ali chose Taite over runner-up Todd King in 2018 she told him: "I'm willing to risk it all because I'm so in love with you." And it seemed that this couple was about to get their romantic ending. However, after two years of dating the couple split post near-identical statements on their Instagram accounts.

"It is with the heaviest heart that we want to let everyone know that we have decided to take time apart in order to give each other space and time to fully focus on our own paths," Ali said on her post in July last year. "We both love each other deeply & only want the best for each other & both want the ultimate happiness for each other and hopefully our paths will reconnect again soon."

Though by the time she appeared on SAS Australia in November she appeared to have some regrets. "I still think he is my soulmate; our timelines are different," Ali told the directing staff. "I kind of feel a bit empty."

Sadly while it gave many of us hope they may patch things up, it was not meant to be. In June this year Taite went official with new girlfriend Chelsea Fenech. Maybe their time is still yet to come...

Sophie Monk and Stu Laundy

Australia loves Sophie Monk for her combination of knock-out beauty and down-to-earth charm, telling things as they are. So she had us all behind her in her search for love.

And Stu seemed perfect for her. They'd crossed paths about a year before the show and sensed a spark so decided to go on the show to see if there was something more to their connection.

There was definitely enough for Sophie to choose the heir to a multi-million dollar hospitality empire but it was not to be. Six months after the show finished, so were they.

"The thing is, what I saw was humour and friendship," Stu told the Daily Mail Australia. "And the way the show plays out, in the bubble you’re in, it’s easy to confuse your feelings."

While Sophie said: "I gave it the best shot I could and my intentions were everything I said I was looking for, but unfortunately it just didn't work out."

Since then Sophie has moved on both with her career and a new man. She hosted reality show Beauty and the Geek this year and after meeting her current 'geek' Joshua Gross on a flight in 2008, the couple got engaged in January.

Georgia Love and Lee Elliot

This is what we wanted to see in a Bachelorette couple! TV presenter Georgia Love found love by going on the show and she and Lee have already gone through life events that would make or break a couple.

Early on in their relationship, Lee was her rock when her mother was sick with and passed away from pancreatic cancer but it wasn't easy.

"We had a very rocky first six months, I’m not afraid to say that," she told The Thinkergirls Pod Channel. "It was really hard on him, and it was really hard on our relationship," Georgia admitted.

Then finally, after a couple of Covid-postponements, they tied the know in a beautiful ceremony on a vineyard in Tasmania.

And while they're not ready for children just yet, Georgia says people have to stop asking women if they want children. "We’re not trying to get pregnant at the moment so it’s not an offence to me directly but I think the conversation of asking people if they’re pregnant, when they’re going to be pregnant and if they want kids at all is offensive," she told Who. "There are so many people and people close to me who are going through really difficult fertility journeys and battles and any talk of pregnancy and why or why aren’t you pregnant is really really offensive, triggering and hurtful to them,"

Now facing another tough time, Georgia has been stood down from her on-air duties at Channel 7 for culturally offensive posts on her social media, she will once again need Lee to support her through.

Sam Frost and Sasha Mielczarek

The original bachelorette Sam Frost won our hearts and the heart of construction manager Sasha Mielczarek on the first season of the show in 2015. The relationship lasted 18 months with the pair releasing a statement saying that the breakup was a mutual thing.

"It is important to stress that there is no bitterness or scandal, they have just come to the realisation that the best way forward is to separate," the statement read. "They wholeheartedly respect and cherish the friendship they have for one another, which will continue moving forward."

But there was still some ill-feeling as in 2019, when Buzzfeed posted a story about disrespectful explanations for cheating on Instagram, Sam tagged Sasha's most recent ex at the time, Tori May, in the comments saying: "@_torimay_ he once said Instagram must have hacked his account, that's why he had followed and messaged all these girls."

To which Tori replied:"@fro01 omg what. Master of lies and manipulation. The lies he told me still blow my mind."

Meanwhile, Home & Away actress Sam continues to enjoy her time filming in the Northern Beaches while the rumour mill runs hot on her latest beau.

Instant Hotel star and personal trainer Jay Bruno has reportedly moved in with Sam, and while she is saying they're just friends, who knows what can happen when you're in a Covid bubble...
