'The pressure got to them': Bachelorette couple split during coronavirus lockdown

Fans were shocked last night when last year’s Bachelorette, Angie Kent, confirmed that she has split up with Carlin Sterritt.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph a friend of the couple claims the pair decided to part ways during the coronavirus lockdown.

“They really fell in love but the pressure got to them,” the friend said.

“Angie has been devastated and she really wants to put this behind her, which is why she has been spending time with her family to recoup and get her life back together.”

Indeed, Angie went on to tell the publication that “chemistry doesn’t always equal compatibility” and that their values just “didn’t align”.

The former Gogglebox star took to her Instagram account last night to break the sad news to her followers.

“Matters of the heart are extremely difficult and I’m sad to say that Carlin and I have broken up,” she wrote, saying the couple hadn’t wanted to confirm the split before this as there’s “much bigger issues going on in the world” and they’ve both been taking some space to see what they really want.

“I appreciate everyone’s concern and the investment that many of you made into the show and our story, but this is real life and we both need privacy and time to heal. I just want to put the rumours to bed and to clarify so that questions stop. Please remember we are both human beings like everyone else,” she said.

Angie’s last Instagram post with Carlin was on May 20th, after she uploaded a video showing the pair out shopping for snacks.

Meanwhile, Carlin appeared on his Instagram Stories yesterday dressed in his F45 trainer’s top, saying he wishes Angie nothing but the best and revealed the pair had just recently come to the decision to part ways.

“It’s for the best for us individually,” he said, saying that his “mental health had taken a left turn” and he wasn’t the best version of himself or able to give the best version of himself to Angie.

“Everyone is battling something that you may never understand or even see,” he said, telling his followers not to judge people on their social media accounts.

Angie and Carlin got together on the 2019 season of The Bachelorette, falling head over heels for each other.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that you are the perfect guy for me,” Angie said in her speech at the end of the show.

“I am completely falling in love with you.”

Carlin was momentarily lost for words but revealed that he’d fallen for Angie, too. “I’m just so happy right now,” he said.
