Bachelor Jimmy reveals hidden detail in the show's rose ceremonies
The former star says there's a reason behind the order he handed out roses.
Former Bachelor Jimmy Nicholson has shared an insight into the show’s rose ceremonies and revealed how he picked an order for handing out roses during his season.
The 33-year-old pilot, who found love with Holly Kingston on the reality series in 2021, spoke candidly with Yahoo Lifestyle about the often secretive decision-making process on The Bachelor.
“So as the Bachelor, for me anyway, I had a list of the ladies that I wanted to keep around and the ladies that I didn't feel a spark with,” he explained.
“I'm not privy to a lot of the things that go on behind the scenes, so I didn't really give the order a thought. Consequently, Holly was left last many, many times which I didn't realise. That’s great for dramatic effect as well because you need to throw people off. If we knew who was going to win night one, it wouldn't be an interesting show.
“So there's a lot that you as the Bachelor don't know about, but I think ignorance is bliss. Here are the people that I want to keep here, and that’s what matters.”

Meanwhile, Holly shared that there was a hidden downside to being picked towards the end of the rose ceremony that viewers might not know about.
“For the girl on the other side of this, in your interviews the next day you have to talk about every girl that went before you in the rose ceremony,” she told us. “So, ‘There goes so and so and I’m looking at her, she’s just got the rose. How am I feeling? Not feeling great’. So when you're left to number 20, that leaves you to have to talk about your feelings for 19 girls prior.
“I kept you on your toes!” Jimmy replied, to which Holly said, “But instead of spending two hours in an interview I’d spend four hours, because of your actions.”
Jimmy went on to share that it wasn’t until later in the season that he began to put more thought into the order of giving out roses.
“This is not to speak about Holly in this instance, yes I did give her the last rose on a few occasions, but there were some instances where the order towards the end I was like, okay, who put in more of an effort tonight? Or who put in more effort on this date?” he detailed.
“Yes, I still think there's something there, but she didn't come and talk to me at a cocktail party, she seemed disinterested in one of the one on ones, or something like that. And then you go, well you know what, I'm gonna put you a little bit later in the order just to show you that you need to let me know you're interested in me because at the moment I can't see you’re interested in me and that's how it's playing out.”

Speaking about the latest season of The Bachelors starring Jed McIntosh, Thomas Malucelli and Felix Von Hofe, Jimmy admitted he is a big fan of the show's new format and editing style.
“It couldn't be more different to ours, but I love it,” he said. “I think the new format is exactly what they need. It’s faster, and if we know anything about social media these days with TikTok, people are just scrolling. And you could see that in the format with no drawn-out scenes, just bang bang bang. It’s chaotic but great.”
