Aldi shoppers go wild for must-have $14.99 Christmas gift: 'I need this'

Christmas might be over two months away, but it’s never too early to start buying presents. Whether you need to choose a gift for your Secret Santa recipient, your family member who has it all, or simply yourself, Aldi’s got you covered this holiday season.

The supermarket has recently expanded its collection of advent calendars and begun selling an Adult Mini Puzzle Advent Calendar for $14.99 as part of this week’s Special Buys. The calendars are designed to offer a mini brain teaser each day in the lead-up to Christmas, with 80 pieces in each of the 12 puzzles.

There are three calendars available, including a travel poster collection, a vintage nature collection, and a vintage Christmas collection featuring festive-themed animals.

Shoppers have taken to social media to praise the unique item after it hit shelves on Wednesday, with many saying it’s the “perfect” gift to buy for yourself or a loved one.

“Anyone else pick up a puzzle advent calendar or any other version today? I’m so excited for this!” one person posted in a popular Facebook group.

“Yep got mine, looks like nice quality. I had a sneak peek!” a shopper replied, while another added, “Such great quality, I’m gifting mine to my elderly mum”.

“I bought one today. When you open the lid there are 12 numbered boxes, each one has a different puzzle in it. Looks great quality,” a third shared.

“Maybe I need this, not a chocolate one this year!” someone else remarked, followed by a different user who said, “These look cool!”.

“We had a similar one last year, it was amazing,” another customer wrote.

Aldi's 2024 advent calendars

Aldi’s also released an advent calendar featuring 24 luxury tea blends for $14.99 and a jewellery advent calendar for $19.99 which comes with a bracelet and 12 charms.

For the kids, Aldi has a selection of licensed chocolate advent calendars for $3.99 featuring Barbie, Transformers, Minions, and Peppa Pig. There’s also a storybook collection advent calendar for $19.99 with Marvel, Disney and Disney Princess options, and a wooden advent calendar for $19.99 which you fill yourself.

Aldi Australia’s collection of advent calendars comes after the supermarket’s US range went viral on TikTok last year. Social media users praised the store’s impressive selection, which included a scented candle calendar, coffee calendar and mini puzzle calendar for kids.

“They sell out so quick. Their advent calendars are bada**, so let’s go see if they have them at my Aldi,” content creator Anne Koii (@annekoii) said in her video, which has since received hundreds of thousands of views.
