Just because they're stuck in the afterlife doesn't mean their love lives are dead!

School Spirits will-they-won't-they couple Maddie (Peyton List) and Wally (Milo Manheim) locked ghost lips last season, and Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive season 2 trailer that reveals yet another very steamy moment between them. The fact that they're shirtless but not (yet?) kissing again is a mystery that needs to be investigated with the same dedication Maddie had for the case of her body snatcher.

Maddie (and viewers) were thrown for a loop in the season 1 finale of the spooky Paramount+ series when she discovered that Janet (Jess Gabor), another ghost that everyone assumed moved on, had actually stolen her body instead. Now the mystery of what happened to Maddie turns to whether she could still be alive if she gets her body back from Janet.

"I thought my life was over," Maddie says in the trailer. "Stuck between the real world and the afterlife. But the real question is, am I even dead?"

The key to solving Maddie's mystery lies in Simon (Kristian Ventura), her only connection to the real world, who was left doubting he'd actually been talking to her at all in the season 1 finale. Maddie must find a way to unite her friends, both living and dead, but even if they Nancy Drew (or Hardy Boys) their way to finding Maddie's missing body, they don't know if they can bring Maddie back to life.

And what's going on with Mr. Martin (Josh Zuckerman)? The dead teacher always seemed to be an ally for the young spirits, overseeing a ghost student support group to help them cross over, but there's something suspicious going on with him keeping tabs on all of them and collecting things they had when they died. Was he involved in Janet's death? "Don't pursue this!" he warns sternly in the trailer.

The eight episode second season kicks off on Thursday, Jan. 30, with three episodes, followed by new episodes every Thursday after that.

Back in season 1, a connection between Maddie and Wally quickly sparked and culminated with them sharing their first kiss at the homecoming dance. "Another great memory I have is when Peyton and I were filming our kiss scene," Manheim previously told EW. "In between resetting up shots, we would go hang out in her trailer and her brother was there. I love her brother so much, Spencer. He was like 'I'm bored. Can I come watch?' and Peyton kept on being like 'No!' I was like 'Yeah. Bro, come on! It'll be great!' That was a funny moment."

Maneheim also shared his hopes for season 2: "I want a whole flashback — not of Wally playing football, just of Wally being the man in high school. I want to see him with all of his friends. I want to see maybe his girlfriend, Debbie Gibson, who he mentioned in episode 2 by the pool. I want to see his life. I want to see what other clothes he wore to school. Sorry. That's me just being selfish."

School Spirits season 2 premieres with three episodes on Thursday, Jan. 30, on Paramount+.
