Aldi shoppers are a passionate bunch and they love to share their fan finds with the world (or, at least, Facebook). And we love to see it - how else would we know about the best special buys and whether or not certain snack products are edible or best left on the shelf?

In a recent post on social media, Aldi customers have been raving about an item that they say makes one of the most irritatingly tricky kitchen tasks an absolute breeze. That task? Cooking rice. Why is this dinner-time chore so challenging for so many of us?

We've all been there - you follow the instructions to a tee, add the correct ratio of water to rice and yet, somehow, you still end up with grains that are either soggy or stuck to the bottom of the pan.

Enter Aldi to the rescue with customers saying that the $59 Ambiano Digital Rice Cooker is a game changer.

"Omg this rice cooker from ALDI is absolutely amazing," someone posted in a Facebook group along with a photo.

The post was met with mostly praise from other satisfied shoppers who said the gadget was a go-to in their home as well.

"I love mine!! So many functions too. Perfect rice every time!" one person wrote.

"I’ve had mine for 2 years. It’s the absolute bomb. I’m hopeless at cooking rice and this is perfection every time," added another.

"Yes, it’s amazing. I have [had] mine nearly 5 years now," someone else raved.

"I bought this about a year or so ago. Works brilliantly and holds a good amount of rice," said yet another happy consumer.

Apparently, you can use the rice cooker for so much more than just rice too as people shared the other meals they've created in the machine.

"Love mine and it's going strong at least 4 years on and used multiple times a week. Cooks rice, pasta, soups, puddings and cakes fantastically."

Other people said they make dumplings (YUM) and steamed veggies in the cooker without issue.

Among the chorus of "best purchase ever" and "Love mine, I've even got a backup unit", there was some concern that the product is a little on the slow side.

"I have it and I love it. Hubby complains it takes too long. Honestly, it is a bit slow but once you get used to the frames you know how much time to allocate. It cooks perfectly though," one person explained.

"Is the new version quicker than the old one? I have the old one and it’s great, but SLOW," said another.

"Love ours! It does take longer [than] others but it’s been going strong for a year now. We got ours last year," another shopper added.

For reference, the Aldi rice cooker takes 20 to 30 minutes for 4 to 5 cups of rice - which doesn't seem terrible to me, but to each to their own I guess!

Another question that was raised in the chat was the size of the unit and whether it takes up very much room. According to one shopper, they are quite large (she provided a photo for reference) so if you are short on bench space, it may not be the one for you.

Overall though, the praise was overwhelmingly positive for this handy gadget and, honestly, I am just a fan of anything that will prevent me from having to meticulously scrape burnt rice off the bottom of a saucepan ever again.
