Aldi customers spot X-rated detail in $19.99 kid's item: 'One of those double look moments'
Are all Aldi shoppers' minds in the gutter?
An Aldi Facebook group is having a field day and making jokes about an innocent (?) item after one shopper pointed out there was something rather risqué about the product. The cheeky purchase in question? A $19.99 kid's science kit that promises to make chemistry "captivating."
True to its word, the set certainly had Aldi shoppers captivated - and cracking jokes - after noticing the phallic-looking image on the front of the box. The picture shows different coloured explosions coming out of test tubes, as the set includes instructions on how to create an "erupting rainbow."

"I am not sure what 'chemistry' is going on here?? Made me chuckle today at my local Aldi," the original poster wrote.
X-rated jokes pour in
The set is aimed at kids 8 years and older but group members were quick to skew the conversation in a more "adult direction."
"Clone a Willy," one wrote as another said, "Build your own dildo set haha."
"Yes I seen [sic] this tonight definitely one of those double look moments," added another group member.
"Will go well with that neck massager they were selling a while back," someone else quipped.
"I laughed hard at the 'erupting rainbow' decal," another person said.
"Ooof I think we're all accidentally dirty minded haha," added yet another Aldi shopper.
Other people's minds were out of the gutter and in more practical places as they asked about the logistics of the set.
Ok, but is it suitable for kids?
"All jokes aside haha has anyone got this for a 6yr old?" someone asked. "Will it be too hard for them as it says 8+. Obviously will be supervised. Looking for 6th birthday ideas."
"Pretty sure it comes with quite a comprehensive booklet-type thing which could be a bit advanced for. 6-year-old but would depend on your child. They might need help with some things," was one reply.
"We are always underwhelmed with these science kits. You usually need heaps of stuff they don't come with - everyday stuff that can be bought at the store, but still a pain when you don't have it at home and a child is excited wanting to play," was another answer.
This sentiment was echoed by a different customer who said, "I got it for my 4-year-old and we’ve been having a blast with it. I’d recommend you have rock salt, vinegar, bicarb, food colouring and sugar on hand though lol."
Alternatives to Aldi kit
Other commenters came to the table with helpful (and more PG) alternatives with one person writing, "Me & kids do DIY volcano eruption, it needs only baking soda + vinegar and some food colouring available in our kitchen."
"You can do it with lemons too," another suggested. "The extra vinegar gives an added burst of volcano though depending on how juicy your lemon is."

Of course, not everyone was as amused by the saucy-looking science kit. In fact, one Aldi fan seemed to think the whole thing was a tad immature telling her fellow group members "You need to get out more…."
Nevertheless, if you are looking to inspire your kiddo to be the next Marie Curie or on the hunt for a hen's night laugh, it looks like Aldi is your one-stop shop.
