The 2024 Emmy nominations have officially dropped and, as usual, there were a few snubs and surprises. This year, Shogun leads the pack with 25 chances to win while the critically-acclaimed series The Bear follows closely behind with 23.

Netflix's Baby Reindeer scored 11 nominations, including a history-making nod for Nava Mau who became the first Latina trans woman to be recognised in the Best Supporting Actress category. Prime Video's Fallout also fared well with 17 chances to win - great news for fans of the gaming adaptation.

However, not all fans were thrilled with the category that Fallout...fell into. Several fans of the series have taken to social media to share their confusion and disagreement about the post-apocalyptic show being classified as a drama. Adding to the discourse is the fact that The Bear - which deals with themes such as suicide and family trauma - has been nominated in the Comedy categories.

"Fallout TV series got a best drama nod and The Bear has a best Comedy nod… have they watched either show??? Literally switch them!," one person wrote on X.

"Not The Bear being nominated for best comedy series, again. and Fallout being nominated for best drama series. Like???," another questioned on the social media platform.

"How does Fallout count as drama while The Bear counts as comedy?" yet another viewer wrote.

"I know the answer is 'campaigning' but someone's gotta explain to me why the Emmys think The Bear is a comedy but Fallout is a drama," was another comedy.

"It confounds me that Fallout is considered a drama and The Bear is considered a comedy by the Emmys," someone else said.

On Reddit, a similar conversation took place, as someone wrote, "The shows need to stop being able to pick which category they nominate themselves for. Total bullshit. Fallout is clearly more comedic than The Bear."

"The Bear in Comedy seems to have also forced Fallout into Drama to avoid competing, despite the latter being very clearly a comedy. I think they need to revise some of their processes at some point," someone else added.

"Fallout and The Bear should switch categories," a third person said.

"Fallout got snubbed for outstanding comedy series," one fan wrote.

The nominations for the 76th Primetime Emmys were announced Wednesday by actors Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tony Hale in Hollywood for best comedy, drama, limited series and TV movie, among others.

The winners will be revealed on September 15 exactly eight months after the 75th Primetime Emmys were presented on Fox, which were postponed by last year's writers' and actors' strikes. No host has been announced for the annual event which will take place at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater.
