Tyra Banks' secret Australian life: America's Next Top Model host living Down Under

America's Next Top Model host Tyra Banks has been living a secret life in Australia for the past 18 months as she's been quietly working on her start-up ice cream business Smize & Dream.

The 51-year-old supermodel and TV personality has been living between LA and Sydney, telling The Daily Telegraph that she and her family have enjoyed an incognito life Down Under.

From spending time in Sydney's shopping malls, to visiting Hoyts, Tyra also divulged she enjoys spending time in Target and Kmart like many other Aussies, calling Australia's version of Kmart 'fancy'.

"We'll get some ice cream at the cinema, see a movie, then we might get a foot massage. Then we'll have some lunch... Then we go to Target or Kmart," she said. "We'll do Coles, Woolies, Harris Farm, whatever, and so that is a whole day at the mall and we don't do that in America."

Tyra's new Australian business

Tyra is set to open her ice cream store in the Smize & Dream franchise in Darling Harbour by mid-year, according to the publication.

Currently the Instagram handle for Smize & Dream has no posts, but a playful caption saying, "The quiet won’t last. And if you know, you know. And if you don’t, oh…you will." The account already has 46,000 followers and Tyra's personal Instagram profile picture is of her posing with an ice cream.

The website for the ice creamery labels it as the world's "most dreamy ice cream", saying it incorporates ice cream, entertainment, and dreams, with Tyra dedicating the brand to her mother Carolyn, born from their "girls' night" when Tyra was growing up and her mum would take her to the Häagen Dazs ice cream shop in Hollywood.

Tyra talks of how hard her mum worked to provide for her family and upgrade them into bigger and better apartments, after they lived in a one bedroom place for some time.

"During Mama’s hard-working years, every Friday night after homework and dinner, we’d have girls night at the Häagen Dazs ice cream shop in Hollywood!" Tyra wrote. "While licking our chocolate (her fave) and coffee (my fave) ice creams in her white Honda Accord, in her cray-cray-in a-good-way style, she’d school me on her laser-focused one-more-bedroom goals and more. We’d laugh, cry and DREAM our biggest, most outrageous CREATIVE DREAMS... together."

Tyra said in that car, and in those moments, her ice cream dreams were born.

"Yeah, we make creative, incredible tasting ice cream and super yummy SMiZE Treazures, but my Mama and I want you to reach for more than just a spoon," Tyra wore. "Just like my mama and I did in that car in Hollywood. Never stop dreaming."
