We're several weeks into The Summit as a new round of contestants try to make it to the top of Mount Head, New Zealand, with their backpacks full of cash. As the participants progress up the mountain they must complete a series of tasks and each time someone gives up or gets eliminated, the million-dollar cash pool gets reduced by however much they had in their bag.

The challenges are certainly not for the faint of heart (or for anyone who is always cold) and the eliminations can be just as brutal. Case in point, former Bardot member Tiffani Wood waking up to find she had been given the boot...via a note! Truly, it was giving Jack Berger breaking up with Carrie on a post-it vibes.

With only a handful of contestants left - including former footy player Mat Rogers and nurse and midwife Charlotte Shelton - the competition is hurtling towards the end and fans think they have figured out what the big twist will be before the winner(s) is crowned.

"Think I have a solid theory about the twist that’s coming," someone wrote in a fan group. "The last 4 or 5 have to vote for someone that’s already left to come back on and someone to go in their place. Think Phil or Lachie will get voted back on and Mat will leave instead."

"I wish.... I'd love someone to think for themselves and stop doing what Mat tells them to for a change," someone replied.

Another fan came to the party with a well-fleshed out theory suggesting, "Charlotte takes control, sends Mat home and Olympia comes back… could happen unless they do what they usually do and follow Mat… who I like a lot."

"I hope you are right and it's Phil," a third viewer wrote.

"Yep I agree, I rekon [sic] it’s Lachie," said another while someone else said, "I believe Sam comes back."

While many people agreed that the poster's theory was 'interesting' one person had a slightly different take on what could be in store for the remaining contestants.

"The money will blow up in 24 hours!" they quipped.

"I wouldn't be surprised! 🤣," someone replied.

I mean, look, it would certainly be one way for season two to go out with a bang...and potentially deter anyone from auditioning for season three!

Aside from the good-natured theorising, there has also been a fair bit of chat about who will win - or, more accurately, who deserves to make it to the end.

While there has been a decent show of hands for Charlotte, who has consistently impressed viewers with her determination and skill, it would seem that Simmone Jade Mackinnon has won plenty of favour with viewers too.

"Simmone for the Win❤️❤️❤️❤️," a fan wrote on Instagram.

"Simmone deserves the win," said another.

"Go Simmone 👏👏," echoed a third.

"@wanderingozzie_ for the win. 🏆 💰💰 I🇨🇦🍁this wandering Canadian gots your back. Cheers and 🙌🔥 prayers 🙏❤️," yet another viewer added.

"My god I really hope @wanderingozzie_ wins," a different person wrote.

The praise continued with a very supportive fan writing, "Simmi is gonna win, she has the tenacity of a lion and the heart of a champion. Hold your head high Simmi and climb on!!!!"

And there was even international support for the business owner with someone writing, "Simmone will win 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 PORTUGAL 🇵🇹 IS WITH YOU."
