The Block's Kyle and Leslie reveal why they think House 2 still hasn't sold
EXCLUSIVE: Kyle and Leslie share what they really think about Leah and Ash's property.
The Block’s Kyle and Leslie have shared their honest opinion about why they think their co-stars Leah and Ash still haven’t sold their house over a month on from this year’s auctions.
Leah and Ash made the difficult decision to pass their property in during the show’s final episode in the hopes of selling it at a later date, however, the house is still on the market with reportedly zero prospective buyers.
Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle about the lack of interest in their neighbours’ property, Kyle admits it would be “really difficult” to sell a Block house after the reality show has finished airing on TV.
“The Block adds another element to selling the house,” he explains. “It probably adds a lot of value onto the property because it's on TV and it’s publicity for the person buying it.
“But I guess it's a case of the cat’s out of the bag, so post-show everyone knows what it’s worth so they can start low-balling you. I don't know if it's Leah and Ash that make the final decision about what the house gets sold for, but if they want to stick to their guns and they've got a price in mind then let it go for as long as possible if you want to make what you want to make.”

While some viewers have argued that Leah and Ash’s negative portrayal on The Block has impacted the sale of their house, Kyle doesn’t believe this is the case.
“I think at the end of the day, it really should be about the house and how it's finished and who it appeals to,” he says. “You don't not deserve to win or not make any money because you were maybe an outspoken person on the show, that shouldn't come into play.”
'It's very difficult to come back after that'
Kyle went on to say that he admires House 2 and doesn’t believe there’s anything about it that makes it unsellable, but he’s not too surprised by how things panned out on auction day.
“I kind of feel the auction results went how I felt like that might have gone, but not in terms of what everyone made,” he remarks. “I didn't feel like Leah and Ash shouldn't have made money, but I also thought that maybe they had the least appealing house to the masses.”
Leslie adds that Leah had a very specific buyer in mind for her modern art-deco property, which was always going to be harder to sell than the other four houses.
“I take my hat off for trying something that people hadn't seen before,” she says. “I mean, when you look at Block houses in general over the years, they look like Block houses for the most part. It’s hard to get out of that when you have a budget and you've had sponsors and things like that, but the creativity is still there.
“But it is hard when you're not in the bubble of The Block and all of that momentum that's around it. I feel like it’s very difficult to come back after that and actually sell over your reserve.”
Steph and Gian share their thoughts
Meanwhile, season 19 winners Steph and Gian - who walked away from the reality show with a record-breaking $1.75 million profit - tell Yahoo Lifestyle that they think the fact Leah and Ash went last in the auction was one of the biggest reasons why their house didn’t sell.
“I think it’s a fantastic house and if there weren’t so many other houses being sold on the day before them, it might’ve been a different outcome,” Steph reflects.
“I think there is just maybe not that one person that is wanting it for that price at this point, but I don’t think it’s not going to sell, I think it will. And I definitely think a lot of their house not selling maybe came down to the order. Maybe if that house was second or third it could’ve sold.
“I don’t think it’s actually because it’s Leah and Ash’s house that it didn’t sell. It’s five auctions on the same day, it’s a lot.”

This comes shortly after a source told Yahoo Lifestyle that “frustration has well and truly set in” for Leah and Ash, who are now concerned a team from the upcoming 2024 season of the show may sell their home before theirs is even taken off the market.
“The fact that someone who isn't even cast in the next series set to be filmed in Phillip Island could beat them to the finish line is pretty concerning,” the insider said.
