The Block's Charlotte claps back at 'romance' rumours with builder

She and her sister Maddy might not have formed any close friendships with their co-stars at this point on The Block, but rumours have begun swirling that Charlotte has struck up a romance with their builder Jack. The sisters recruited Jack, a carpenter from their own house-flipping business in the real world, to help them in the competition shortly after they arrived and have relied on him for companionship as they’ve struggled to bond with the other teams.

During Tuesday night’s episode, the reality show aired a romantic montage of Charlotte and Jack spending time together to the soundtrack of Foreigner’s ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’. The clip featured the pair smiling and laughing, however, the 22-year-old asserted there was no truth to the rumours.

“We’re not each other’s type, and nothing has ever happened between us romantically,” she said in her piece-to-camera interview. “I just need to make it clear on national TV.”

Five months on from when the episode was filmed, Charlotte has now given an update to Yahoo Lifestyle about her relationship with Jack and once again confirmed that they are not dating.

“Just to be clear, there is zero romance between Jack and I,” she says. “We’ve known each other as close friends for like, four years, and nothing has ever happened. Nothing will ever happen. He’s like our brother, so no, definitely not.”

Are Maddy and Charlotte friends with anyone in the cast?

While they currently appear to be on the outs with all of their co-stars on The Block, Maddy and Charlotte tease that viewers will see some friendships develop as the competition progresses and they continue to “treat people how you would want to be treated”.

“There are people that we have built relationships with, and maybe more so post-show or more so later in the season when there is a situation that does highlight people's behaviour and makes them maybe reconsider how they were treating us,” Maddy says.

“And so I guess for us, it was a little bit like, we're going to be the bigger people and we're gonna enjoy these people for who they are and what this experience is. So there are people that we do talk to now, just because we've chosen to put all that meanness and the nastiness behind us, but there are still other people that don't choose to invest into us as well.”

When asked what they expect the cast dynamic will be like at the upcoming auction, Maddy asserts that she and Charlotte are on “speaking terms” with everyone but they’re unsure what to expect.

“I'll speak to anyone but whether they'll speak to us, I don’t know,” she remarks.
