The Block's Omar and Oz send fans wild with room reveal: 'Wow'

The Block 2022 winners Omar and Oz were disappointed when they weren’t able to finish their final working-from-home space for reasons out of their control. After a huge amount of rainfall, builders weren’t able to build a roof for their shed.

While this meant they were unable to win the final interior room reveal, the pair ended up walking away with a record $1.586 million dollar profit after the auction. Now, the good friends have given fans another look at their last room and their outdoor area.

In a post on Instagram, Omar and Oz shared a snap of their finished indoor space and added a video of how it connects with their outdoor area.

“As we didn’t make [the room] reveal on the show due to things that were out of our control. Here is the finished working from space with the outdoor area. Thank you everyone involved,” they wrote in the caption, before adding that ‘hard work pays off’.

Their working-from-home space is truly spectacular, with a dark brown and black colour palette and feature wallpaper above the cabinetry.

The outdoor space also looks fantastic, showing off the modern decor and spacious entertaining area.

Fans were stunned by their efforts and a majority said Omar and Oz were the ‘deserving’ winners on the show.

“Wow that’s incredible…definitely deserved to win, love everything about that house,” one fan wrote.

“Oh amazing, so good to see it finally revealed!” another added.

“Woooooow, love it!!! You should have won this week, was my favourite room even though it wasn’t finished. Crazy good,” a third chimed in.

“Absolutely stunning just like the rest of the house,” another wrote.

The Block's shock 'disastrous' cancellation

This comes after the New Zealand version of The Block was cancelled after 10 seasons. The announcement sparked debate amongst Kiwi fans, with many happy to farewell the show.

This year, the winners of The Block NZ made a scarce profit of $4k, the next couple making a measly $100 and the remaining teams walked away empty-handed. Meanwhile, The Block Australia saw Tom and Sarah-Jane win just $20k, and Dylan and Jenny's house still hasn't been sold.

There were a handful of Kiwi fans who were disappointed by the announcement, but the majority welcomed the news, labelling the 2022 season as a ‘disaster’ and ‘awful’ to watch.

“I’m glad for the sake of the contestants after how heartbreaking this year was to watch,” one person commented.

The Block has maybe had its day…the Aussie season was a disaster too,” another pointed out.

“Hope you change the format of The Block in 2024. With such a lack of affordable accessible housing across New Zealand it would be great if someone would help steer the building industry in the direction of building futures, not barriers,” a third wrote.
