The Block fans defend contestant after brutal comments: 'Nothing to do with you'
Some Block fans have taken issue with a development for Haydn's family, while others say it is perfectly understandable.
The Block has been keeping viewers on their toes this season with some of the most explosive storylines to date. From forged signatures to a shock exit of one of the teams, people being fired on camera and people's "secret" pasts being dug up, there has been no shortage of drama on the popular reno show.
One of those dramatic -, although decidedly more wholesome - storylines saw Blockhead Haydn have to leave the Block site via helicopter as his wife Chelsea went into labour early with their daughter Tilly. Haydn, who's on the show with his best mate Ricky, found out he had been selected for The Block shortly after learning his partner Chelsea was pregnant. The couple had been trying unsuccessfully to have a baby for 10 years, going through multiple rounds of IVF before stopping and then falling pregnant naturally.
As you'd imagine, being separated from your wife and newborn child would be absolutely gut-wrenching, so host Scott Cam very kindly organised for Chelsea and Tilly to move into a little rental on Philip Island for a few weeks so that they could be closer to Haydn. Pass the tissues, please!

However, not everyone thought that this was fair with one viewer taking to Facebook to question why Haydn was being given special treatment.
"Here’s a few questions...," they started the post. "Is Haydn allowed to sleep at the rental? How often can he visit? What’s the purpose of her being there? It’s so unfair considering he does NOTHING!"
The rant was met with plenty of backlash from fellow fans who not only defended Haydn but theorised that the OP clearly wasn't a parent themselves.
"Whoever wrote this post has clearly not had kids before, I couldn't imagine having my first born and being away for the first 3 months, pathetic post," one angry person wrote.
"She’s a new first-time mum and they live a long way away. She needs support so she moved to the island for the rest of the show. What is wrong with that?" another asked.
"Lol WTF so she wanted to be closer to her husband with their first newborn baby... what exactly is the issue?" yet another person questioned.
"Haydn and his wife went through many years of IVF to have a child," someone else reminded the OP. "If you have never been there it's hard. They finally got their chance and he wants to have a more active role in being a dad. Let him be a dad to his little girl. It is nothing to do with you."
"What about his wife getting some support with a new baby?" another person wrote.
Viewers 'disappointed' in Haydn and Chelsea
Of course, being the internet, some people thought the OP had a point.
"Wow, there are plenty of new mums who never had any help from anyone when they've had a baby," someone said.
Another questioned, "You have to question why they would let a contestant on the show when their partner is close to giving birth. I know she went early but still."
"Block is paying for the rental and the extra Ford car, for her, I don’t think he is spending much time at The Block, and his wife doing Kylie’s bidding to dig up dirt on the girls means she is no better than the grinch herself, I’m very disappointed in Hayden and his wife," was a comment from another viewer.

"Anyone remember when Stick's wife had their second baby they never got moved closer to him while he was on The Block," a different viewer complained.
"I have to agree," someone said. "From memory, another contestant in a previous Block had a baby but managed to cope. The object of the experience is the gain at the end of the build. If the wife does want to be here that's fine but keep away from the politics of the show. That's not the reason why you are here. That's all."
