Another night of The Block, another major drama! This week, fan favourites Ricky and Haydn are in trouble.

The teams are doing their Main Ensuites this week, so Waterproofing Wednesday is a big day. A few teams are having dramas, but none more than Ricky and Haydn. The boys and Foreman Dan (and viewers) were frustrated by how little their builder had done on the ensuite during the crucial building phase.

Oh, and then Ricky and Haydn are told that their builder has to leave the site at 5pm to deal with a personal situation, only for them to find out later he was actually leaving to go to a concert with his partner! Wild.

Viewers fell even more in love with Ricky when he said, "I think he's doing the best he can. I'm just not sure I've got the right guy for the job at the moment."

On Wednesday night's episode, Haydn stays up all night helping their waterproofer get the job done, only to find out the next day that the waterproofing isn't dry yet and their shower water stop has been put in the wrong way.

"It's another kick in the guts," Haydn says.

It doesn't end there, however, Foreman Dan then tells the boys that their waterproofing hasn't stuck to their sub floor, and their products aren't compatible.

"We've hit worst case scenario," Dan tells Ricky, adding, "We have to rip it all up."

"If you don't laugh, you'll cry," Ricky says, joking that they're now in "pulling up waterproofing Friday".

Dan says he's "gobsmacked" that all of this has happened to the boys, saying, "I've never witnessed this before... he's just laughing taking it pretty well but I think deep down he's hurting. It's just another kick in the guts they don't need."

When Scott Cam and Shelley Craft do a walkthrough and see Ricky pulling up his waterproofing, they're shocked.

"I obviously don't want to have an incomplete bathroom come Sunday but if that just overcomes my mind, then I'm not going to be able to do anything well between now and then," Ricky tells the hosts.

Scotty points out that ensuring the correct primers are used is their builder's job.

Bet you didn't think it could get worse? But it does.

While pulling up the faulty waterproofing, Ricky's tiler damages the plaster inside the shower wall.

Dan says they will need to redo all the plastering in the shower area, and it's then revealed that the boys won't be able to finish their room this week.

"When you get bad news, you never really forget it... I've been looking forward to doing a bathroom and an ensuite on The Block my whole life," Ricky says. "And now – to be told you can't even compete to win is just devastating."

Ricky then does what viewers have been begging him to do – fire his builder, Miller.

"You're a cracking dude but the way that the last week or two's turned out has been a f***ing disaster," Ricky tells him, saying he's been frustrated that Miller hasn't taken ownership for any of the issues that have come up.

Haydn says he's put his whole life on hold for this and they can't have a flaky builder, telling Miller, "It's done."

Viewers had nothing but praise for Ricky and Haydn, with one Instagram user writing, "The boys are just the most respectful people, they just handled everything so well, I kept imagining how some of the other contestants would have handled the same situation.. I'm sure it would have been an absolute nightmare to edit the explicit language out 😂 had that been the case."

"Boys have handled challenging conversations well," another agreed. "Stayed calm, been respectful of others even when they don’t like or agree with what has happened. House 3 & house 2 have shown excellent conflict resolution skills this year which is nice to see for a change."

"Really feel for the boys on this one, they took it so well! Chin up boys!" a third said.

"So sad for the boys. Wish some of the other contestants had come in to help them removing the waterproofing when they first heard about it," someone else said. "There’s not that camaraderie that there used to be years ago."

"Where on earth do they get these tradies from?" another said, slamming Miller. "Surely they’re supposed to be competent enough to know what products to use!"

"Hearts breaking for you boys, but gee you handled it all so well," one fan added.

"So heartbreaking for the boys but they have handled it so well," someone else said. "Treated Dan, the builders and everyone involved calmly and respectfully."
