Sunrise's Sam Mac shares exciting family update: 'Amazing news'

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac has announced that he and his partner Rebecca James are expecting their second child together.

The couple, who are already parents to 17-month-old Margot Grace, took to Instagram over the weekend to share the exciting news with their followers.

“‘Baby Mac’ (the sequel) premiering this August 2024 🍿Starring Margot as The Big Sister,” he captioned the post alongside the hashtags ‘MacDaddy’ and ‘Round2’.

Sam and Rebecca were quickly flooded with congratulatory messages from their famous followers, including The Bachelor stars Matty ‘J’ Johnson, Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich.

“Oh wow!! Congrats you 3! Amazing news,” Sunrise host Nat Barr wrote, followed by her former co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch who said, “Mate how wonderful: congratulations. Always very special”.

“Congratulations Team Mac. Another player to the bench. Season looking strong,” The Morning Show’s Kylie Gillies remarked.

“Such exciting news team Mac,” Dr Chris Brown shared, while Peter Helliar said, “Congrats gang!!”.

Is Sam Mac married?

Sam announced in December 2023 that he had proposed to his partner Rebecca James after three years of dating.

“Ladies & gentlemen, my fiancée!” he captioned a loved-up snap with his bride-to-be showing off her engagement ring.

“She said yes 💍 My secret 2023 New Year’s resolution was to propose to my darling Rebecca sometime this year….So I guess this is what you’d call a ‘buzzer beater’.”

The pair began dating during the pandemic in 2020 after being introduced by a mutual friend on Instagram. They quickly struck up a friendship and spoke every day for six months before finally meeting, and then went public with their romance in March 2021.

Who is Rebecca James?

Rebecca James is a personal stylist and creative consultant and co-directs a content production company with Sam called Pearl Studios.

She moved from Melbourne to Sydney after border restrictions eased in 2021 and the couple bought a house together in October that year.

Rebecca’s brother is Olympic snowboarder Scotty James, who is married to billionaire Formula One heiress Chloe Stroll. The pair tied the knot in Venice in May 2023 with several huge stars in attendance, including Daniel Ricciardo, Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.
