Sunrise's Sam Mac left red-faced after awkward interview: 'Too much information'

Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac was left red-faced this week after doing a particularly awkward interview with The Morning Show. The TV personality was on the show to promote his new book, Suddenly One, when he made several embarrassing comments.

Sam shared a video of the interview to Instagram, jokingly captioning it, "Sorry Bec 🤷🏽‍♂️. A masterclass in how NOT to promote your new book 🙅‍♂️."

In the video, the father of two begins strongly by saying, "What I hope comes from the book is a great connection point for families."

'Is this too much information?'

Things go downhill, however, when The Morning Show host Larry Emdur asks how Sam and his fiancée Rebecca James, are doing after welcoming their second daughter, Mabel, last month.

"It is hectic... I mean, cluster feeding? Anyone familiar? I'm really aching at the moment," he said, grabbing his chest as the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme song played.

The presenter seemed to realise it was an awkward choice of joke after doing it, appearing embarrassed.

Kylie Gillies then asked what cluster feeding is, with Sam responding, "It's when a baby is feeding a lot more than normal breastfeeding. Every hour or so, as opposed to three or four hours... Is this too much information? Is this OK?"

"I'm just going to call Bec and see if this is OK," he quipped before pretending to do just that.

"Bec, am I allowed to tell them that? No, leave it out? OK, we won't put that to air," he said to a seemingly stunned Larry and Kylie who laughed awkwardly.

"Oh, that's great Sam," Kylie said, with Sam responding, "What a note to end on."

"I just want to point out, there's nothing in the book about cluster feeding," he added, with Larry joking that could be his next book.

"And thanks Bec, for sharing all that," Larry joked, with Sam yelling, "Sorry, Bec!"

Fans shared their thoughts on Sam's awkward moment on Instagram, with one user joking, "That was almost a cluster something 😂."

"Love to see a Dad who has a great understanding of the current breastfeeding regime 😂," another said, offering Sam a compliment.

"I think it’s brilliant how you know what cluster feeding is," a third said. "Every dad should know."

Sam and Rebecca welcomed Mabel August McMillan last month, joining their two-year-old firstborn Margot.
