Sunrise's Monique Wright 'caught out' in Christmas lie: 'Busted'
Sunrise star Monique Wright is known for speaking her mind, and it seems one of her comments has caused a bit of a frenzy in her personal life. Two weeks ago, the star admitted on Brekky Central that she ‘hates Christmas’ — but she didn’t realise her children would see the clip.
On Thursday, the star was reporting on Queen consort Camilla decorating a Christmas tree when she appeared to backflip on her earlier comment. She told Natalie Barr and David ‘Kochie’ Koch that her house is currently full of Christmas decorations.
“I now have two Christmas trees because there was dissension in the house about whether we should have artificial trees or a real tree,” she began. “And because I am so in the Christmas spirit, we have both,” Monique said sarcastically.

Nat called her out on the lie, saying that Monique made her position on all things Christmas clear.
“Oh but I do [like Christmas], kids. I love Christmas,” Monique replied sheepishly.
Her mistake sent both Nat and Kochie into stitches, while Monique sat there looking uncomfortable.
“Mon thought the kids had gone to school when she said it, but on social media, they found out, and they were as shocked as I was,” Kochie laughed.
“They checked with me, and I said no of course, of course I love it. And so I spent the last two days pulling together all the Christmas decorations and putting up two trees," Monique revealed.
“I was kidding [about hating Christmas],” she said, unconvincingly.

The show shared a clip to Instagram, with the caption saying she was 'busted' by her kids and calling her a 'Grinch'. Sunrise fans thought the segment was hilarious, and many admitted they also hate Christmas.
“What a Grinch. Caught out,” one person commented on Instagram.
“I hate Xmas. No tree in this house,” another added.
“Love Mon! She says it how it is!” a third chimed in.
