The Sandman‘s Morpheus… does not seem to have lightened up much in Season 2 of the Netflix drama.
To wit: TVLine’s month-long #2025FirstLook series continues with an exclusive — and intense — behind-the-scenes shot of Tom Sturridge on the set of the fantasy’s sophomore season. While we’re not exactly sure what Sturridge’s Morpheus is doing in the scene, we know a) it likely involves ancient magic, and b) whichever character the camera is standing in for might want to duck.

Morpheus, aka Dream, certainly looks like he’s ready for battle — which would make sense, given that Season 2 will feature even more members of his unruly, highly volatile (and powerful) family than did Season 1.
A quick catch-up for those new to the show and/or the Neil Gaiman comic on which it’s based. The Sandman follows Morpheus, lord of a mystical realm known as The Dreaming, who is the keeper of all of humanity’s dreams (and nightmares). He and his siblings — Death, Desire, Despair, etc. — are collectively known as The Endless: embodiments of the concepts they represent. In addition to Sturridge, the show’s returning cast includes Gwendoline Christie, Kirby, Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, Jenna Coleman, Steven Fry, Vanesu Samunyai, Ferdinand Kingsley, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Razane Jammal.
The season’s many additions include the actors playing Dream’s heretofore unseen siblings Delirium (who will be played by Hanna‘s Esme Creed-Miles), Destiny (Primary Colors‘ Adrian Lester) and The Prodigal (Revenge‘s Barry Sloane).
