Buckingham Palace was forced to take down Princess Beatrice’s pregnancy announcement on social media on Wednesday after fans spotted an awkward typo. The Royal Family’s official accounts confirmed that Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their second child together, however, she was referred to as ‘Her Royal Highess’ in the post.

The initial post on X, formerly known as Twitter, was quickly deleted and re-uploaded with the correct spelling. Meanwhile, the Instagram caption was also corrected and will forever have the word ‘edited’ on display.

The full statement from Buckingham Palace read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna.”

It also mentioned that King Charles III, Beatrice’s uncle, had been informed and “both families are delighted with the news”.

If you’re not fully across the royal family tree, eight-year-old Christopher ‘Wolfie’ Woolf is Edoardo’s son with his ex-fiancée, architect Dara Huang. Edoardo, who is a British property developer and member of an Italian noble family, began dating Dara in 2015, welcomed their son Wolfie in 2016, and called off their engagement in 2018.

Meanwhile, Edoardo and Beatrice, who have known each other since childhood, began dating in 2018, married in 2020, and welcomed their first child together, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, in September 2021.

Sienna is currently tenth in the line of succession to the British throne, although she has not been given a royal title like her cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. This is because only the Queen's children and grandchildren through the male line are awarded Prince and Princess titles.

Instead, Siena inherits titles from her father Edoardo. He was not given a dukedom or earldom from the late Queen Elizabeth II upon his marriage to Beatrice, however, he is a Count because he is a descendant of the Italian nobility who ruled the country before it became a republic in 1946.

This makes Beatrice a Countess, which isn’t officially recognised in the Italian Republic but can be used out of courtesy, and their children will be Counts or ‘Nobile Donna’ - which translates to “noble woman”.
