Rebel Wilson names actor she lost her virginity to at 35

Rebel detailed the experience in a chapter titled 'Late Bloomer'

Rebel Wilson has named the actor and comedian she lost her virginity to at 35 years old in her new memoir Rebel Rising.

The Australian star, 44, spilled the details about her relationship with Mickey Gooch Jr in a chapter titled 'Late Bloomer'.

In the chapter, Rebel shares that she was filming How to Be Single in New York in 2016 and was convinced that "as a big girl, no one could ever truly find me sexually attractive", adding that she was almost at her "highest weight" at the time.

Rebel writes that she was motivated to lose her virginity after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.

"Life IS short. I didn’t want to live my life without experiencing sex. Experiencing love. I Just put it out into the universe that I was finally ready. I was going to feel the fear and just do it," she said. "I was going to s**t it up with the next guy that came along – who also seemed like a suitable marriage candidate."

Not long after she found out about her mother's health, Rebel's Pitch Perfect co-star Hana Mae Lee set her up on a date with Mickey.

The star writes that she found him "sexy" and decided a month into dating that she was ready, with the star inviting him to New York City to stay with her.

"And, Micks, I know this might be news to you if you are reading this, but yes I lost my virginity to you," she wrote, adding that she "high-fived" herself after it happened.

Rebel previously told People that she wrote about her experience in the hopes of helping young people because "not everybody has to lose their virginity as a teenager".

"People can wait till they're ready or wait till they're a bit more mature," she told the publication. "And I think that could be a positive message. You obviously don't have to wait until you're in your thirties like me, but you shouldn't feel pressure as a young person."

Rebel also told the publication that she previously lied to her friends or avoided speaking about the topic.

"There was one vague time, I think I told my best friend, 'Oh, yeah, I just did it to just get it over with when I was like 23,'" she said.

"Just to really avoid the questions," she explained. "Normally I would just leave the room when the conversation was happening. And then the people that said, 'Oh, at 24, it's so late.' And then I'm sitting here thinking, "Oh my God, my number's 35. What the hell? I'm going to look like the biggest loser.'"

Rebel's fans 'devastated' by delay in book release

Rebel's memoir may have been released in the US, but Australian fans have been left devastated to discover the book's release has been delayed.

Fans were confused after receiving refunds, with no explanation given as to why the book was no longer available to purchase.

Some fans attempting to purchase the book in Australia online were met with 404 errors, while the Amazon Australia website simply tells customers, "We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock".

In a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle, HarperCollins AU, the local publisher of the book, said: "Publication of Rebel Rising has been delayed but we have no further comment."

Posting from the US on Tuesday (local time), Rebel shared a snap of herself with two copies of the book, with the caption reading, "REBEL RISING is OUT today! Grab a copy at your local BARNES & NOBLE 📚."

"We can’t get them in Australia," one confused user commented.

"You went on talk TV to promote the book, said it would be out on April 2nd, it’s now April 3rd here in Aus and not a single retailer is selling it. Please explain 😠," an angry fan added.

"I pre-ordered a copy from Big W in [Australia] and recently received a refund and notification that they were no longer stocking the book," another said. "Devastated!"

"This happened to me too! I can’t see it available anywhere in Aus now 😢," a third said, adding their order from Booktopia had been cancelled.

"I'm in Australia and can't get a copy," one Facebook fan wrote. "Just went to my local book store and they said it has been recalled to be possibly re-printed and have parts redacted!"

One New Zealand-based fan suggested there may be legal reasons for the book's delayed release in some countries, "I tried in NZ but was told it had been pulled for legal reasons (Whitcolls NZ)."

The delay comes after Rebel last month teased the book's content and made allegations about Sacha Baron Cohen's behaviour on set.
