Queen Letizia of Spain Continues Her Power Suiting Streak in Red Suit During Cuenca Visit With King Felipe VI

Queen Letizia of Spain continued her power suiting streak with a coordinated red look for a public royal engagement on Thursday. The Spanish royal was joined by her husband of 20 years, King Felipe VI, for the inauguration of the new University Hospital of Cuenca.

For the occasion, Queen Letizia opted for a red suit with coordinated blazer and trousers. The Spanish royal wore a double-breasted red blazer with an oversize silhouette, complete with black buttons and illusion pockets on either side of the waist.

The blazer featured defined lapels and rounded shoulders. Queen Letizia’s blazer matched perfectly with her wide-leg trousers in the same red tone. Beneath her blazer, Queen Letizia wore a taupe, collared blouse, adding a neutral element to her ensemble that kept the focus on her vibrant red suit.

The Spanish royal coordinated her purse with a chain handle and shoes to her blouse, as well. Forgoing any statement jewelry, Queen Letizia opted for a simple pair of drop pearl earrings. King Felipe VI also suited up for the public engagement alongside his wife. King Felipe wore a gray suit with a berry-hued tie and light, button-down shirt.

Queen Letizia’s latest suited look is her most recent among previous public engagements. Prior to Friday’s University Hospital of Cuenca inauguration, Queen Letizia wore a gray suit courtesy of Mango for the 17th International Seminar on Language and Journalism on Tuesday.

The double-breasted blazer and tailored trousers set may have been an homage to Mango’s founder, Isak Andic, who died on Saturday in Spain. He was 71 years old.

Power suiting has long been a key element of Queen Letizia’s royal wardrobe. Popularized by the likes of Princess Diana in the 1980s, suited looks became essential pieces for Kate Middleton, Queen Mary of Denmark, Meghan Markle and more alongside Spain’s royal.
