Prince Harry's text messages to Prince William revealed: 'Still hurt'

It comes following reports Harry is "devastated" by the news Kate and his father King Charles are both battling cancer.

Prince Harry and Prince William's private text messages have been revealed after the Duke of Sussex reached out to his brother when he found out about Kate Middleton's cancer battle.

The Princess of Wales, 42, shocked royal fans on Friday when she shared the news that she has been diagnosed with cancer following her "major abdominal surgery" in January. She revealed that while they believed the issue was non-cancerous, tests "found cancer had been present".

Harry is said to be "devastated" by the news that his sister-in-law is battling cancer, along with his father King Charles.

Royal expert Tom Quinn told The Mirror that William did not respond to Harry in a "warm, informal" way, and it was instead "engineered by the palace".

"Harry and Meghan [Markle] have been in contact with William, but their private message was simply one of sympathy and didn’t include any suggestion the brothers should make up and let bygones be bygones or that Harry should fly back to the UK soon," he said.

"There is just too much ill-feeling for that. William, who is still hurt by everything Harry has said in the past, has responded, but the response is very much engineered by the palace and it’s hardly the kind of warm, informal response you would expect from one brother to another. It's more like the sort of communication you would get between two slightly wary diplomats."

After Kate's announcement was released last week, Harry and Meghan released a statement that read: "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."

It comes following reports Harry and Meghan were "not told" about Kate's health prior to her sharing the news, with royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams telling The Sun that this was down to trust.

"There's a deep rift between the brothers - that we know," he said. "We also know that they haven't apparently spoken in many months, and the reason, of course, is that for some four years, they've caused endless problems to the Royal Family and so they can't be trusted."

The royal expert claims William "hasn't trusted Harry and Meghan" since their bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, Harry's memoir Spare, and the Sussexes' Netflix series, Harry & Meghan.
