Paris Hilton baffles TV hosts with her 'real voice': 'Not a dumb blonde'

Paris Hilton left breakfast TV hosts stunned during a recent appearance in the UK promoting her new memoir when she spoke with her ‘real voice’.

This Morning presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary were baffled by how the American heiress sounded in the interview, as she has become well known for using a ‘baby voice’ since rising to fame on The Simple Life in the early 2000s.

“I feel like this is the authentic Paris,” Alison remarked at the beginning of the interview. “Even your voice is not the same as what I remember. Just hearing you now, this is you, isn’t it?”

“This is my real voice,” Paris replied. “That was just a character I was playing.”

The reality star and business mogul went on to explain why she used a different voice for so long and how it’s affected people’s perception of her.

“I just think that for a long time people have misunderstood and underestimated me, but I can understand playing that character of course they were going to assume otherwise,” she said. “But I’m not a dumb blonde, I’m just very good at pretending to be one.

“After The Simple Life, I kind of got stuck in that character where everyone assumed that’s who I really was in real life. And I’m a naturally shy person, so I think it was also kind of a mask for me.”

'I want to be respected'

This isn’t the first time Paris has revealed her real voice, as fans of the pop culture icon have heard it on both her podcast and her 2020 documentary This Is Paris.

During an appearance on Sunrise to promote the film, Paris spoke openly about how she was finally ready for everyone to see her authentic self.

“I just felt like it was time for the world to finally know who I was,” she said.” I feel like I've been through so much, and there are so many misconceptions and just preconceived notions about me.

“Also, for my legacy and what I wanted to be remembered for. I don't want to be remembered as some airhead. I want to be respected for the businesswoman that I am.”

The release of her memoir comes shortly after she announced on Instagram in January that she and her husband Carter Reum had welcomed their first baby, a son named Phoenix, via surrogate.

“You are already loved beyond words,” she captioned a sweet photo of herself holding her baby boy’s hand.
