From the daughter of a working-class family to a Wall Street stockbroker to the first female self-made billionaire, Martha Stewart's career is nothing short of remarkable.
Given her ever-evolving influence, it’s no surprise that Martha Stewart is now captivating a new generation of fans. Her recent documentaries, The Many Lives of Martha Stewart and Martha, have reignited an obsession with all things homemaking — and, more specifically, all things Martha.
Now, over 40 years after its 1982 release, her first book, Entertaining, is going viral. A comprehensive guide to hosting, it features Stewart’s signature recipes and expert entertaining tips.
Apparently, younger fans are now scouring thrift stores, paying steep prices on Amazon and even engaging in bidding wars on eBay to get their hands on a copy. Sellers are asking for around $200 for used editions, while mint-condition copies are being listed for over $1,000.
One TikTok user, Emily Belloma of @emilyjobelloma, was lucky enough to snag the book at a library sale to add to her collection. "The quality of content she has produced throughout her career stands the test of time. She has always had a high standard for excellence, and a great recipe is timeless," she said.
According to The New York Times, Crown Publishing Group has decided to issue a reprint in response to the recent frenzy, set for release this October. But Entertaining isn't the only Martha Stewart Classic that's flying off the digital shelves of Amazon and eBay — her other early works like Weddings, Entertaining (1998), Gardening and more are also in high demand.
