MKR 2024 viewers stunned by how butcher Danny cooks steak: 'You twit'

My Kitchen Rules fans have pointed out a pretty baffling detail in Danny and Sonia's cook.

My Kitchen Rules is back for 2024 as a batch of new teams compete for who can make the best home restaurant and serve up the most enticing dishes. Hosted by Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge, the Channel Seven series is sort of like if MasterChef and Come Dine With Me had a (really delicious) baby.

On Monday night's episode, the gang headed up to Townsville to eat at brother and sister duo Danny and Sonia's Instant Restaurant - the Broasis - to see what the siblings had to offer. Sadly, the night did not go as the team had hoped with the likable pair ending up on the bottom of the MKR leaderboard with a total score of just 56 out of 110.

While their Townsville Mud Crab with Mango Chilli Dip entrée received positive feedback, it was Danny and Sonia's main course that saw the wheels fall off after Danny (a butcher) blatantly ignored Colin's advice and put the Filet Mignon into the oven before searing it - a blasphemous thing to do to such an expensive piece of meat!

The result was some seriously overcooked beef that Manu described as "wet cardboard." Ouch!

“You tried to give us too much and it backfired," Colin added.

The disastrous dinner left viewers feeling sad for the lovable team but also confused by their actions.

"I feel for Danny and Sonia but they should’ve taken Colin’s advice," one fan wrote on X.

"That's what happens when you ignore a judge's advice and choose to follow your own cooking technique... Ah, Danny and Sonia. Nice hospitality, but that's why you're at the bottom," another said.

"I could not eat that steak - taste like old boot. Rare or nothing. Danny you twit. Colin tried to tell you as did your sister. So stubborn," was another less friendly piece of feedback.

"Old mate on #MKR is going to put the fillet mignon straight in the oven without sealing the steaks. He can’t be serious. What a disaster," yet another viewer chimed in.

"Such a shame they got a low score, but when Colin said cook that steak on the grill pan pan first, he should have listened, his sister said it as well. Next time listen to the chefs. That's the lesson here. Hopefully they get another chance," was another comment.

Other fans were baffled by the fact that, as a butcher, Danny should have known how to cook the filet mignon.

"You idiot Danny - Jesus you are a butcher mate. Even I know to sear them off first. Expensive meat too - you plonker," someone unceremoniously said.

"I like these guys. I can't believe though that a butcher doesn't know the correct way to cook a Fillet Minion [sic], and that he ignored Collin's advice," another viewer piled on.

"Being a butcher he should have some idea how to cook a good steak," a different viewer said. "I like these 2 and hope the dessert tastes as good as it looks."

Despite the frustration at Danny for not following Colin's advice, MKR viewers flooded social media with their fondness for the brother and sister duo from Queensland.

"So sad for them, love them both," someone said.

"Love em they both have a heart of gold. Love their brother sister bond," another wrote.

"Love these two," another fan added.
