Mindy Kaling Says Meghan Markle’s Recipes Are ‘Really Accessible’ — and Prince Harry ‘Knows His Way Around a Kitchen’
Meghan’s culinary skills “blew me out of the water,” Kaling said on the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globes
After Mindy Kaling made a surprise appearance in the trailer for Meghan Markle’s forthcoming Netflix show With Love, Meghan, Kaling was asked about the experience on the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globes.
Kaling’s Globes appearance on Jan. 5 came just three days after the With Love, Meghan trailer dropped on Jan. 2, featuring Kaling exclaiming that “This is probably one of the most glamorous moments of my life.”
Speaking to Deadline at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, Kaling, 45, said that she was on maternity leave after the birth of her third child last year when Meghan, 43, texted her and said, “Hey, do you want to come be in my show and come out to Montecito and have me cook for you?”
“And I was like yeah — that sounds perfect,” Kaling said. “I would love to do that.”
Kaling, who said she thinks of herself “as kind of an okay cook,” said Meghan “unsurprisingly kind of blew me out of the water.”
Of her recipes, Kaling said they were “really accessible” — even though Meghan “has a garden from scratch, which I could never do, and chickens.”
“They would all die if I tried to take care of chickens,” Kaling added.
Of Meghan’s husband Prince Harry, Kaling said that he “was there, but he didn’t cook for me.”
“I heard he’s actually a pretty good cook,” she said, adding the Duke of Sussex, 40, “knows his way around a kitchen.”
In a separate red carpet interview from the Globes, Kaling told E!, “When you hang out with Meghan, you know the food is going to be good.”
“So it’s just nice to have someone else be cooking for me,” Kaling continued.

In October, Kaling — who previously appeared on Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes, in 2022 — took to Instagram to show herself cooking soup, joking about her culinary skills, “I’m freaking Meghan Markle over here.”
With Love, Meghan premieres on Netflix on Jan. 15.
