The last time we heard Chicago Fire’s Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd talk about starting a family was in the season premiere, where Stella expressed how she wasn’t quite ready for a baby. Will we get any update on where Stella’s head is at in the second half of the season? –Amaani
It was promised that, finally, after almost nine years, we’ll learn more about Stella’s backstory. What can you tell about that? –Gesche

I do love when this column can kill two birds with one scoopy stone. “Both these questions can be answered at the same time!” Fire showrunner Andrea Newman tells Inside Line. “Soon into the second half of the season (premiering Wednesday, Jan. 8), someone from Kidd’s family shows up in Chicago, and the history that is revealed leads Kidd and Severide to restart their conversation about what having their own family means to them.”

We’ve been teased about things we were expecting to come out about The Rookie — i.e. the new rookies, John’s recovery, the prison escapees and of course Chenford — but is there something we’re not expecting that we should look forward to when the show comes back on Jan. 7? –Emily
Ooh, this was a fun question. And it took some thinking. I mean, I personally was not expecting the Wesley story teased here, and I’m super-curious to see where it leads. Two things jump out at me, that I won’t spoil, but one character appears deeply engrossed in a bedtime read titled (ahem) Seduced by a Sniper, while another character by Episode 2 will be scrambling to find a new place to live.

I’m excited for the new season of Will Trent. Do you know if Greg Germann is going to be back? –Kathleen
Greg Germann does not factor into Will Trent’s two-part Season 3 opener — nor is James Ulster even mentioned. What we can reveal is that Part 1 (airing Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 8/7c on ABC) sets up a new mystery involving Will’s backstory. Even more titillating: It involves a period of time in Will’s life that the series has not yet explored.

Has a date been decided yet concerning the premiere of Season 2 of When Hope Calls? –Steve
I don’t have an exact premiere date, but I am told the Great American Family series will launch its sophomore run during Q2 (that means “April-June”) of this year.

What updates are there for Whose Line Is It Anyway? The last new episodes have aired on The CW. –Eric
It took a lot of phone calls (OK, emails), but I finally found someone willing, ready and able to offer an update on the improv comedy series, which indeed has fully exhausted its inventory of episodes featuring Aisha Tyler, Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie. “Things are in flux at the moment,” that production source told Inside Line, “but we should know more in the next few months.”

Any updates on Archie Panjabi’s Doctor Who role? –Dee
The Good Wife alum is reportedly playing a villain, but showrunner Russell T Davies wouldn’t share a single tiny thing about her character, when I pushed a few weeks back. “Not at all. No. Nothing,” he rebuffed. Even when I asked him to narrow it down to “animal, vegetable or mineral,” he only joked, “All three all at once.” At least, I think he was joking….

Love Found! Fantastic cast! Any spoilers? –Judy
When I was on the horn with series lead/producer Shanola Hampton, I asked her to give a flavor for how the NBC drama’s 22-episode second season will end. “I can’t give a lot away…,” she hedged, “but let’s say that it will leave you bleeding.” Yes, she said bleeding.

Has been an update on when UPtv is going to start running Heartland Season 17? It is way later than when past seasons have started running on the cable channel and I am getting a bit nervous that they are going to keep it an exclusive on their streaming channel and I may not get to see it. –David
This broke over the holidays, but I wanted to make sure you and others saw it: Season 17 will begin airing on UPtv this Sunday, Jan. 12 at 7/6c.

After NCIS: Origins‘ Christmas break ends, what can we expect from Mike Franks? –Maria
With the Gibbs/Pedro Hernandez draaaama now behind us, “Mike is going to be dealing with a personal issue of his own,” says co-showrunner David J. North. “Tish asked him to leave it alone when it comes to the guy who assaulted her, but the reality is that not pursuing the person who hurt his person is a difficult thing for Franks to do.”

Any NCIS scoop? –Sylvie
Well, I did bring my concern about Alden’s “Lily” mystery to showrunner Steven D. Binder, asking: Will it be about more than, as hinted by Dr. Grace, “mommy issues” for Alden? “All I can say is yes,” Binder answered. Bonus scoop: The teaser I fiendishly omitted last time around, about McGee? Here it now is: “He’s going to have a dinner from hell… with Delilah,” Binder told me.

Any news on Season 2 of Poker Face? –Evan
One of the new season’s episodes recently filmed near my best friend’s house, and it involved Natasha Lyonne (and her stand-in)… Charlie Cale’s iconic Plymouth Barracuda… and police cars unarguably from the 1970s, early-’80s at latest. Theories?

Any scoop on The Night Agent Season 2? –Alasia
Well, the latest trailer reveals that newbie Night Action agent Peter Sutherland has “gone AWOL” and is “in hiding” — and that is due to an absolutely shocking, “Wait, Did They Really Do That?” thing that happens in the new season’s opening minutes. Concurrent with all of that, there’s a subplot about a low-level aide (The L Word: Generation Q‘s Arienne Mandi) in the Iranian mission to the United Nations in New York, that slowly but surely ratchets up the tension. I’m a little over halfway through the 10-episode season, and Episode [REDACTED] just delivered a major gut-punch.

It was awesome seeing (or, rather, hearing) Jolene Blalock back as T’Pol on Star Trek: Lower Decks after so many years, but I was curious as to why she was only credited as “Jolene” in the credits. –Jeff
Before I could lock down an answer to this mystery, Jeff, CinemaBlend got to the bottom if it — so let’s give scoopy credit where credit is due. As series creator Mike McMahan told that site, the Star Trek: Enterprise alum asked, “‘Would it be OK if I just went by Jolene?’ and we were like, ‘Jolene, it is whatever you want to be.’ … I really wanted to make sure that she felt like she was in charge of defining stuff because we were so appreciative of her coming back. She didn’t tell me why [the ask], but … we were happy to do it.”

I’m in Kurt Sutter storytelling withdrawal. When will The Abandons premiere on Netflix? –Yolanda
Netflix has yet to announce any rough timetable for the action-drama’s debut, though filming did wrap over the summer, up in Calgary. (Also, though I’d heard rumblings that a title change was in the works, I have been assured that is in fact not the case.)
