MAFS' Cyrell Paule threw wine 'instead of punches' at reunion

When it comes to the world of reality TV, grudges can last long after the season finale goes to air it seems.

Case in point is the ongoing feud between Married At First Sight co-stars Cyrell Paule, 32, and Jessika Power who first clashed while appearing on the show in 2019.

Almost two years later, tempers reportedly ran high when the pair were forced to come face to face in December 2020 to film the highly-anticipated two-part MAFS reunion special in Sydney.

Cyrell comes clean

At the time, Jess, 28, was papped leaving what was believed to be the show’s notorious dinner party in tears and now, weeks later, new mum Cyrell has shed some light on why Jess was so upset.

In an impassioned series of Instagram Stories on Saturday, Cyrell not only admitted to throwing a glass of wine in Jess’ face but also hinted that the fiery interaction could’ve become physical.

“There’s been a lot of questions on whether I threw wine at Jess at the reunion…yes I did!” Cyrell wrote.

“And at the time, it felt f****n good. And now I’m copping the usual [comments, like]: ‘Cyrell’s aggressive’, ‘Cyrell can’t handle things in the right manner’, ‘Cyrell you’re a mother now’.

“For those saying I’m aggressive…. if I wanted to punch someone, I can! And there are reasons why wine was throw instead of punches.”

Winding it back

Cyrell, who shares baby boy Boston with Love Island star Eden Dally, went on to describe how hard it is for her to ‘move on’ even after several years has passed.

“This reunion brought me back to face people that I knew openly spoke bad about me... Even said ‘Cyrell must have been raised in a zoo’ she continued.

“I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not going to be fake just because I’m being recorded on national TV. Stop talking about my son, my partner, my relationship, my upbringing… and mainly how I should [act] now that I’m a mother,” she concluded.

The wine throwing incident echoes another blow up that took place in March 2019 during a reunion dinner party involving Cyrell and another MAFS contestant, Martha Kalifatidis. Both women ended up covered in red wine, with Martha throwing the first glass leaving Cyrell so incensed that she had to be held back by several male co-stars.

Jess hits back

Jess has since shared her side of the story, weighing in on the heart of the issue between the pair and revealing that she has ‘no ill will’ toward Cyrell after the incident.

“It’s been two years [since our season was filmed], we shouldn’t have to use our fists or objects to get our frustration or point across,” Jess told The Wash on Sunday.

“I was happy to speak to Cyrell. However, unsurprisingly, she started off with aggression and pent-up anger,” she added.

Jess claimed that she ‘calmly’ tried to reason with Cyrell and even attempted to ‘remove’ herself from the situation only to have white wine poured over her dress.

She also addressed allegations that she ‘bullied’ Cyrell and her 11-month-old son, Boston, saying that she “never spoke negatively about her child” but admitted that she did comment on Cyrell’s relationship with Eden.

“Cyrell says I bullied her and spoke about her child. I said, back in August 2019, that I thought her relationship with Eden [Dally] was fake for publicity.

“Yes it was wrong for me to slam their relationship, but Cyrell has done her fair share of bullying to me, on-and-off the show, so she’s no angel either.”

Jess did, however, double down on an earlier claim she made to New Idea that Eden proposed the pair start dating as part of a ‘media stunt’ after she and her MAFS husband Dan Webb split up.

Jessika and Cyrell have been contacted for comment.

When is MAFS: All-Stars on?

The Married At First Sight ‘All Stars’ reunion special will air over two nights: 7pm Sunday, January 31 and 7.30pm Monday, February 1, on Channel Nine.

Back in December, the network confirmed the project was underway, leaving fans of the explosive reality show champing at the bit to learn which familiar faces will be returning.

Along with Cyrell Paule and Jessika Power, Ines Basic, Ryan Gallagher, Mike Gunner, Dean Wells and Nasser Sultan (who reportedly also had a tiff with Cyrell during filming) are tipped to appear in the two-part special.

And it’s not just the single stars making a comeback either with MAFS success stories Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli, Lizzie Sobinoff and Seb Guilhaus as well as new parents Jules and Cam also heading back to set.

As is Tracey Jewel who found love outside of the show with her high school sweetheart Nathan 'Nate' Constable. The pair are expecting their first child together, a sibling for Tracey’s daughter from a previous relationship.
