Married At First Sight's Timothy Smith has finally addressed rumours of a ‘feud’ with his TV wife Lucinda Light and revealed why they’re no longer in contact. Fans were left heartbroken last month when it was revealed that the pair had unfollowed each other on Instagram, despite ending the season as best friends and suggesting they may get back together in the future.

Speaking exclusively with Yahoo Lifestyle, Tim reveals that his relationship with Lucinda came to an end because of their different lifestyles and approaches to friendship. He says he hoped their friendship would evolve after the show finished, but away from the cameras he noticed “Lucinda was a little different to who he had been married to during filming”.

“The cameras do that to people”, he says. “Lucinda may have buckled under the pressure with so many people wanting a piece of her.”

The business owner adds that he “didn’t walk away easily” from their friendship, but felt like “eight chances was enough”.

When asked if he is jealous of Lucinda’s enormous success after the show, Tim asserts that he isn’t and he hopes she will continue to find “even more success in her new adventures”. However, he says he didn’t want to be a “pawn” in the storylines that he started to feel uncomfortable with.

“Hearing bits and pieces that were untrue, stuff that was twisted, that has been disappointing,” he continues.

“I think some people, and I am not just saying Lucinda, but some people have let this spot of notoriety go to their head and I didn't want to go down that path. The show is over, I had a good time but I really want to go back to my normal life and be me again without the lens of that TV show.

“People have become their characters and that is a dangerous path to go down. You can lose yourself.”

A close friend of the pair tells Yahoo Lifestyle that Tim ended their friendship after hearing that Lucinda had been “gossiping” about him.

“Could it be more relatable? Friendship in the real world ends over disloyalty and no one likes to hear their best mate has been gossiping about them,” the source remarks. “Tim was hearing things that Lucinda was saying about him behind his back which kept on happening.”

“The fact of the matter is that if you have a problem with me or if you find yourself talking about me in a way you know I wouldn't appreciate then that is not a good friend,” he declares. “I don't want to be a bad guy. I don't want to slag anyone but we are both now moving in different circles with different priorities.”
