MAFS fans devastated as Lucinda Light shuts down major rumour

The Byron Bay celebrant has burst a few bubbles with an announcement.

Lucinda Light has won many fans during her time on Married At First Sight Australia - and probably a couple of career opportunities too, but fans of the show are likely going to be disappointed to know that the Byron Bay celebrant is likely not heading for the expert's couch anytime soon.

A MAFS insider previously told Yahoo Lifestyle that Lucinda was tipped to be offered the role of relationship expert on the New Zealand iteration of the hit series saying: "Channel Nine were hoping to keep this under wraps until after the season finishes as they prefer to keep the contestants as real and relatable as possible. However, no one's more happy for Lucinda than the creators of MAFS. She deserves this."

However, in an interview with Triple M WA’s Robbie Von, Lucinda revealed that she will not be taking on the role of an expert as she isn’t in "any place to comment on anybody’s relationship".

"I don't think I really am in any place to comment on anybody's relationship or marriage," she told Robbie. "I mean, I'm not in one successfully, so I just don't feel like I belong on an expert couch there personally. I think even if the job was offered it would probably be a no from me.”

Adding even more 'light' as to why she doesn't feel she would be right for the job Lucinda said: “I feel as well that MAFS comes with such criticism and commentary from the public and I just don't think I want to put myself out on the public chopping block again.

"It was sort of enough during the experience and look, I've received a lot of love, but yeah, I just think I'd really I'd be asking for critique if I thought for one second I was a relationship expert. At 43 I haven’t quite got it right yet!”

The news is sure to devastate MAFS fans who took the news of her potential appearance on the NZ version with huge excitement.

"Perfect casting & seeing her worth," one fan wrote on social media under a post speculating about the new role. "Look forward to Lucinda being on TV. A big plus..."

Another person enthused, "Oh this is amazing! Hopefully we can watch the NZ one in Aus! Good luck!!"

"Wish her every success!" said another. "She's an awesome role model & deserves to be one."

Someone else chimed in saying that Lucinda would be the perfect fit writing on Facebook: "I said it from the start she’d make a great expert! her humility and understanding and her way with words and her no judgment would make her a welcome addition to the team. I just love her so much!"

While Lucinda may not be appearing on MAFS again anytime soon, she did tell Robbie that fans have not seen the last of her. “I've got some awesome projects coming up, so I'm just going to focus on that," she teased.

Are Lucinda and Timothy together now?

Interestingly, Lucinda told Robbie that the fact she is not in a successful relationship should preclude her from giving other people romantic advice. This comes after Sunday night's commitment ceremony where she and her 'husband' Timothy Smith mutually decided to leave the experiment.

However, since filming the emotional split back in October, the pair have been spotted out together more and more in recent months, sparking rumours they've reunited.

On February 6, they were pictured walking into an apartment building together in Melbourne, and a week later a fan spotted them enjoying drinks at a rooftop bar together on Valentine's Day.

Later that month on February 23, another fan shared a picture to Instagram with the pair after spotting them enjoying a romantic meal.

Yahoo Lifestyle can also reveal that since filming has wrapped, Lucinda has relocated from Byron Bay to Melbourne, where Tim happens to live, fuelling rumours even more.

Speaking to Nine, the pair shared where they stand, with Timothy saying: "We still stay in touch regularly, every couple of days she'll shoot me a message and we'll talk on the phone."
