MAFS' Dom updates fans on mental health and future of podcast
After checking into a mental health facility, Dom has updated fans on the future of Sit With Us.
Former MAFS star Domenica Calarco has updated followers on her mental health situation and the future of her podcast with Ella Ding, Sit With Us, after she took extended leave to check herself into a mental health facility. The stay in the facility came after the podcast suffered backlash when Dom and Ella interviewed controversial MAFS groom Jack Dunkley and his partner Tori Adams, and failed to call him out on some of his more questionable behaviour.
Addressing the future of Sit With Us, as well as thanking her fans for their support, a statement on Dom's behalf was uploaded to the Sit With Us Instagram page, where Dom said she was taking steps to return to social media and the podcast very soon.
MAFS' Dom updates fans on mental health journey
"As many of you know, I've been on a journey towards better mental health and I'm writing to share an important update with all of you. I am nearing the end of my 21-day stay at a mental health facility where I've been focusing intensely on my wellbeing and recovery. The time has been invaluable for me, allowing me to reflect, heal, and grow in ways that I couldn't have imagined before," Dom's statement read.
She went on to express her gratitude to her supporters, saying the messages of encouragement she received played a significant role in her healing journey. Dom went on to say her goal is to come back stronger and more mentally fit and confirmed she'd be back hosting Sit With Us with Ella soon.

"I am carefully planning my return to social media and anticipate being back sometime later this week," she continued. I cannot wait to be back with Ella, doing what I love."
The TL;DR on what happened on Sit With Us
Dom and Ella were slammed after they interviewed MAFS' Jack Dunkley and Tori Adams on their podcast with fans calling out the hosts and Jack for his defence around his controversial "muzzle your woman" comment.
Abbie Chatfield also took to Instagram to call out the hosts, saying it was worrying at the victim blaming going on, when the conversation turned to how Lauren Dunn provoked Jack, instead of Jack being held to account.
"Really disappointing to see the victim blaming here, and the allowance for a man to speak in such a dehumanising way about a woman because she … spoke too much?" Abbie Chatfield commented. "I can’t believe I’m seeing you both dismiss what he said, because he was 'pushed'. That’s the excuse for all abusive men. And what he did was verbal abuse."

Dom and Ella later released an apology, but it didn't do much to quell fans' anger, with many believed the two missed the point. Not long after, Dom uploaded a statement saying she was 'psychologically drained' and taking a break and checking into a mental health retreat.
"Over the last month I have been struggling with some deep issues that have left me emotionally, physically, and psychologically drained," Dom said. "Everyday, I am trying to be the strong, independent, and bubbly person that you all know me to be, but the reality is that I am not okay and the recent social media discourse has forced me to realise that I am at the end of my tether."
