MAFS' Connie announces surprise new career after 'going missing'
EXCLUSIVE: The season seven bride has revealed why she stepped away from the spotlight.
Married At First Sight’s Connie Crayden has quietly returned to the spotlight after “going MIA” on Instagram and worrying followers over the last year.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, the 29-year-old revealed her split from music producer Daniel Caswell after a year together, and the effects of the pandemic, led to her stepping back from sharing her life online and re-evaluating her future after also dropping out of university, where she studied zoology.
“I went really MIA the last year or so, I feel like it had a lot to do with being in my old relationship and being so unhappy,” she explained. “I felt I couldn’t really grow as a person – it was a one-sided relationship and it felt like I hit a bit of a roadblock.
“The effects of the pandemic really got to me too, and then the cost of living crisis. I can’t afford to be a full-time student and put a roof over my head [anymore].”

The former reality star added that her portrayal on MAFS in 2020 as a shy and timid marine biology student while matched with Jonethen Musulin also led to her questioning her future and who she is as a person over the last year.
“I wasn’t even a marine biology student,” she revealed. “At the time I was studying bioscience and had been working as a full-time make-up artist for six years!
“[Producers] knew I was a make-up artist but they didn’t like that and felt it didn’t go with the storyline [they’d set for me]. I was soft-spoken, a bit shy and timid so they thought that career didn’t fit me.
“It’s a shame that MAFS never showed all sides of me – they should be able to show that women are into science and artistry and we can do both, and show both.”
Connie's latest career move
Connie has now recently started her own business as a make-up artist in Melbourne and plans on returning to her studies in the near future to finish her degree.
“I only have one year left in my zoology degree, that’s really exciting,” she said, adding that her main focus right now is building her business and client base as a make-up artist.
When asked if she’d ever considered joining OnlyFans like her season seven co-stars Hayley Vernon and Mishel Karen, the make-up artist explained that although the money seems tempting, it isn’t for her.
“I’ve never considered OnlyFans,” she said. “I am so supportive of anyone who does it though, but it’s just not for me.
“I think the girls who do it, f**king good on them! I randomly bumped into Mishel at the Melbourne Sexpo convention and she’s doing amazing and so happy.”
