Kmart's newest cult candle divide shoppers: 'Made me feel sick'
Three new sprinkle candles have just hit Kmart shelves.
Kmart’s wildly popular Christmas cookie-scented candles flew off the shelves during the festive period last year, and now the retailer has created a new range to keep your house smelling sweet all year round.
Their signature candle range comes in a cute jar with coloured sprinkles around the bottom. At just $10 a pop, the candles are affordable, aesthetically pleasing, and come in three new flavours: vanilla cookie, caramel waffle and frosted cupcake.
Shoppers have been sharing which shops they’ve spotted the new candle range in, with one grabbing some candles at an opportune moment, saying: “I just happened to walk past as they were stocking the shelves! I was not missing out on them this year.”

For those who like the new scents, the frosted cupcake candle seems to have the most fans, with one describing it as “so yummy”.
“I sniffed each one in the store and decided on the frosted cupcake, also because I liked the colours, it smells divine and the fragrance lasts,” another commented.
“My favourite is the frosted cupcake,” a third chimed in.
Other Kmart shoppers on the ‘overrated’ candle range
However, multiple shoppers shared their own experience with the cult candle range, with many saying the ‘gross candles stink’.
“They smell terrible,” a shopper wrote. “I loved the look of them but would never burn them.”
“Why does everyone go crazy for Kmart candles, they smell so fake. Yes the jar [is] cute but they’re full of toxins! Plus their cents [sic] are gross,” another added.
“I don’t know what they smell like when lit, but to me they stink when I took the lids off. Just my opinion, too strong for me,” a third wrote.
“I smelt them all today and they made me feel sick. So pretty though,” another remarked.

Others were convinced the scents were barely noticeable, with a shopper saying the candles have “next to no smell”.
“I got home from work yesterday and my partner had lit one of these hours earlier. Couldn’t even smell it,” a second echoed.
“When I burnt my Christmas ones I couldn’t smell it, I was so disappointed! But will most probably buy these to try,” another wrote.
There’s one silver lining for those who have purchased the candle but aren’t enamoured with the scent – the jars are perfect for other household uses. One shopper shared that she uses an empty candle jar to store her toothbrush and toothpaste in, and another uses an unlit candle as home decor.
