Shoppers in 2024 are well aware that not every item you purchase online looks as good in real life as it does on its website. However, one person has recently discovered the opposite after trawling through Kmart’s product page and finding a bizarre - yet hilarious - detail.

Taking to a popular Facebook group this week, one social media user shared a photo of Kmart’s 4 Pack Broom Holder for $6. While the product has received rave reviews and has a 4.3-star rating, the woman questioned why one of the broom holders looked different to the others.

“Is it just me, or... Has the hook at the back already been used, stripped the paint off the wall and then had its photo taken?” she remarked.

Indeed, one of the four broom holders appears to have grey paint on it in not just one but every photo used on Kmart’s website. Yahoo Lifestyle has contacted Kmart for comment.

The post has since received hundreds of likes and plenty of comments from people poking fun at the detail, with many saying that it’s an accurate representation of the product and how it has damaged their walls in the past.

“I guess it’s their way of showing you how strong they really are. Great marketing,” one person wrote, while another added, “Well I guess they’re just showing a true comparison”.

“Hey at least they show what they do. My wall has so many spots ripped off because of these,” a third replied, followed by someone else who agreed, “[This] is exactly what they did to mine!”.

“I mean, at least it’s true to life. I DID have two up,” a different user wrote alongside a photo of a broom holder in use next to a damaged spot on the wall.

“Those are s**t and destroy walls,” one person declared, with another writing, “These are the worst. They only damage your wall”.

While some shoppers advised against the product, others have praised the item online for being “super strong”, “easy to install” and “great value for money”.

“I've had these up for over a year now and I have heavy brooms/mop hung on there and they have held on so well,” one person wrote on Facebook.

“Easy to stick on and can be used in so many places. I have them inside linen cupboard doors and on laundry walls,” another shared on Kmart’s website, while someone else said, “Perfect to keep all your brooms and mops off the floor in one safe accessible spot”.

Social media users also recommended purchasing the Command Broom Gripper for $9 at Kmart, which has a higher price point but has received more positive reviews.

“I’ve got the Command ones and can confirm they’ve been in my laundry for almost 3 years with no dramas,” one shopper commented, followed by a different user who said, “Command ones are great. There isn’t a whole lot at Kmart that the same can be said for these days”.

“Need a storage solution for your mops and broom? It’s quick and easy and can be done behind a door, in a cupboard or anywhere you like! For me it’s out of sight!” she captioned the post.
