Kmart shopper wows with 'genius' storage hack: 'Best idea'

An Aussie mum's bed head idea is both practical and stylish.

A Kmart shopper has been dubbed a "genius" after she hacked one of the store's popular items to save some serious space in her bedroom. Using the retail giant's Pannelled Slimline Draw Trolley and some extra timber, her husband created the ultimate space-saving solution for their small bedroom.

The Aussie mum said they'd recently moved house and no longer had enough room for their king-size bed and bedside tables. So her "handy hubby" got to work and hacked the Kmart trolley into a new bed head that not only fits the space but provides plenty of extra storage.

"Just wanted to share this creation my husband made for our room," she wrote on Facebook alongside pictures of their new bed head. "We used the slim line draws from Kmart, added some timber across the top and put a power board in the centre. He had to add some wood to the bottom and the top to make sure the unit was the same height as our bed frame. So stoked with it."

Fellow Facebook users were stunned at how well it turned out, calling the hack "pure genius". "Well isn't he clever?! Love this!" one Kmart fan commented. "The best idea I've seen with these! Great thinking," added another.

The $59 drawers are currently sold out online, but you can find them on clearance in stores for $45 while stocks last, and make your own bed head for just over $100.

The hack inspired further innovative ideas for solving issues with space. "This would also work for behind a lounge for those that have narrow lounge rooms and can't fit a coffee table," one person suggested. "Thank you so much, been trying to find a solution. I have the same problem, a great idea," another commented.
