Kmart shopper solves common kitchen grievance with 'fantastic' $7 item: 'Perfection'
If you are over having a cluttered kitchen countertop, this Kmart shopper has a smart idea.
Grabbing a cheeky takeaway coffee feels like a luxury indulgence these days, as the cost of living pressure means that more Aussies just can't swing paying $7 for a flat white. It's little wonder that more people are looking for affordable ways to enjoy their caffeine boost - from investing in coffee machines to shopping around for the most cost-effective instant blend.
While bringing the cafe experience into your home certainly has its financial benefits, it does come with an annoying side issue - clutter. Particularly for people who have limited bench space or who need to have their tea and coffee-making items within easy reach, a messy countertop can be a big dealbreaker.
One Kmart shopper seems to have found a very clever fix, sharing her innovation with a popular Facebook group.

"Picked up this bargain for $7 yesterday at Kmart," she wrote. "It's box said bamboo bathroom caddy, but is exactly what I have been looking for to make my own motel-style coffee station."
They continued, "Even found individually wrapped snacks at the supermarket. No more bench clutter and needing 2 hands to open cannisters."
$7 Kmart hack for coffee lovers with limited bench space
The clever customer had used the Bamboo Vanity Organiser from the budget retailer as a nifty countertop accessory and popped tea and coffee sachets into the compartments along with some biccies and sugar. Even better is that the organiser is currently on clearance and is down from $12 to just $7!
"I love it," one person replied. "The individual sachets are perfect for me too. I bought a jar of Nescafé and it dried up before I could use it all. I’ll pop round shortly with cake."
"This is awesome for anyone that can stay at your home and you don't really want them going through your kitchen looking for things, good job," said another.
"I'm buying that through the week fantastic," another commented.
"Perfection! I've been looking for a solution for our messy coffee table at work," someone else enthusiastically added.
"We have a lot of casual time-poor staff at my work that barely get a 10-minute break on occasion, so something like this would be great for them rather than the big basket of unused tea and coffee stuff stashed on big shelves in a corner of the kitchenette that no one has time to think about let alone use," was another comment. "This is an appealing way to provide a quick cuppa and let’s face it we all judge stuff on how it looks. I’m going to set this up at work next to the kettle and see how it goes. Thanks."
Other reasons Kmart hack is a great idea
Several people also shared that it was a great solution for people who had ailments that made opening jars difficult.
"This is a great idea especially if your hands are arthritic. I struggle to open canisters most days," said one person.
"This is a great idea," another said. "My husband has an illness which makes it difficult to spoon out coffee sugar etc without spills. He can however cut and pour sachets. Like the way you have set this up."
And, others still suggested that the little coffee station could make a fabulous present with one person saying, "Really nice gift idea to give fully loaded like you have to a coffee lover."
"Great gift for childcare educators!" one person enthused while another said "Daycare and teachers!"
Kmart shoppers love $15 caddy hack
It's not the first time shoppers have run to Kmart to make their daily coffee ritual a little more accessible. Earlier in the year, the retailer's $15 3 Tier Floor Caddy went viral after people started using two of the caddies to make a coffee station on their kitchen bench that’s both aesthetically pleasing and highly useful.
“This might just be my favourite Kmart hack,” one person said as they shared a photo of their efforts on Facebook.

The shopper cut off the handles and used two pieces of timber from Bunnings to connect the items, placing various mugs, plants and canisters on the tiers to decorate. They also managed to neatly tuck away the kettle and toaster in between the caddies under the lower wooden plank.
“What a great idea,” one person commented, while another added, “That is so cool”.
