Kmart's 'fantastic' new kids storage unit flying off shelves
Kmart recently dropped a range of never-before-seen homeware items, and now one new item - a toy storage chest - has parents going nuts online.
One mum even revealed she almost spent double the amount at IKEA trying to find a similar storage solution for her children’s toys.
“Loving our new toy storage solution thanks to Kmart,” the mum posted in a Kmart Hacks group on Facebook. “We were about to spend double the price for the same product at IKEA! Glad we waited.”

She shared an image showing three of the storage units set up next to each other.
“This configuration is three separate units side by side and screwed into the wall studs. They are $49 for each unit,” she explained.
“The equivalent Trofast unit from IKEA is $84, and the dimensions are almost identical.”
Though she says “you get what you pay for” she also added the units are “sturdy”.
Her post quickly went viral amassing hundreds of comments, from others eager to get their hands on the new item.
“These look fantastic,” one person wrote.
“I might need a whole room full of these,” another said.
“Awesome storage though. Easy access and looks tidy,” was another response.
Another mum lamented the fact she had already gone and purchased all she needed from IKEA.
“My son’s room is full of IKEA! Kmart why do you do this to me? Damn Kmart could of saved me so much!”
The new item was initially only available in store, leaving people currently in lockdown in Victoria left out of the excitement. But a search of Kmart’s website today shows the product has ‘just landed’ online now too.
