Sure, they may have been acting, but Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet's chemistry in Titanic was so strong that even decades later, fans still think that Kate is the 'one who got away' with Leo, even though the two have remained close friends since filming the iconic 1997 movie.

The genetically blessed duo gave us the romance story of a lifetime in the '90s with the tragically beautiful story of Jack and Rose, who fell in love on the Titanic before Jack slipped under the surface with the boat when it sunk. Of course, one of the oldest debates of millennial culture is whether there was room on the door for Jack to lie with Rose after he froze to death in the water. Maybe it's the reason we all have trust issues today. Nevertheless, the movie will go down (no pun intended) in cinematic history.

Now Kate Winslet aka Rose, has shed some light on filming one of the iconic romance scenes with Leonardo, where she revealed what it was really like to kiss him during the 'Jack, I'm flying!' scene which depicted the couple standing at the bow of the boat, Jack cradling Rose from behind as she stretched out her arms.

While rewatching the scene during an interview with Vanity Fair, Kate said the kiss wasn't "all it's cracked up to be".

“My God, he’s quite the romancer, isn’t he? No wonder every young girl in the world wanted to be kissed by Leonardo DiCaprio," Kate said when watching the scene. “It was not all it’s cracked up to be.”

Kate went on to detail that because the pair were on top of a ladder and couldn't be reached by the hair and makeup teams, the endless kissing takes meant they had to keep reapplying makeup because they were both wearing different shades that rubbed off on each other's faces.

“What you wouldn’t know, because Leo looks completely natural, he had to lie on sun beds and there’s a lot of fake tan makeup going on, so I have got hidden [in my bra] his makeup and brushes and sponge, and my makeup, brushes and sponge, and between takes I was basically redoing our makeup,” Kate revealed.

“We kept doing this kiss, and I’ve got a lot of pale makeup on, and I would have to do our makeup checks — on both of us, between takes — and I would end up looking as though I’d been sucking a caramel chocolate bar after each take because his makeup would come off on me. And he just looked like there was a bit missing from his face because there was this big pale bit from all my makeup getting onto him," she continued. “Oh God, it was such a mess.”
