Kardashian Family’s ‘Generosity’ on Full Display After Backlash From Critics

Kim Kardashian recently found herself in the middle of an online controversy for a poorly timed social media post, but now, fans' biggest gripe with the star is moot.

Earlier this week, the 44-year-old was put on blast by a comedian and several other fans for what she did and did not post on Instagram. While countless celebrities were evacuating their homes or using their massive online followings to share resources for those looking for ways to donate or support the communities directly affected by the deadly wildfires rampaging through parts of Los Angeles County, the Kardashians star's Instagram Story was filled with her usual posts promoting SKIMS winter sale.

The now-deleted posts stirred up quite a debate as some people online believed the  count down to the sale was an "unhinged" thing to promote given the circumstances and that the SKKN by Kim namesake–as well as the rest of her family–should be posting about ways to help those who lost everything "since it’s their hometown."

However, not everyone was turned off by the apparent social media faux pas, as many others pointed out that the content was likely scheduled ahead of time by someone other than the mom of four and cited the media personality's history of quietly providing resources to help battle previous blazes, like when she paid for additional firefighting teams for her neighborhood in 2018.

And as it turns out, more evidence supporting the latter opinion just surfaced.

During the late evening hours on Thursday, Carousel Restaurant—an L.A. hotspot serving up authentic Lebanese dishes—revealed that the Kardashian family had banded together to donate an undisclosed number of meals to several of the area's fire stations valued at a little over $2,000 per a receipt in one of the photos.

"We proudly delivered meals to several fire stations today 🚒Thank you to the frontline members for your dedication to your communities. A special thank you to the Kardashian family for funding the meals—your generosity knows no bounds," the restaurant wrote in the caption of its Jan. 9 Instagram upload.

Those who were critical of Kim before (as her sisters, Khloé and Kourtney, previously used their Story to share critical resources) appeared to immediately change their tune, with one top-liked comment suggesting, "Good deeds should be done in silence."

"Well done to the Kardashians!" someone else declared. "Honestly such an amazing thing to do! Helping everyone whenever they can is one of the reasons I love them! I am praying for everyone in LA to stay safe during these fires 🥹."

"Thank you Kardashian and Jenner family for this generous generosity to the women and men on the front lines 🙏🏾," a third gushed.

"Say what you want about the Kardashians but their generosity is something else 🙌❤️," another wrote.

One more added, "Y’all are so good to the community 😢."

As of 1:45 a.m. local time on Friday, the Palisades Fire burned more than 19,900 acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). Firefighters nearby were also battling the Eaton Fire, which had burned more than 13,690 acres as of 9:17 p.m. local time on Thursday. Both of the fires, which authorities said started on Tuesday, Jan. 7, were close to 0 percent contained by late Thursday afternoon. At least 10 people have died due to the devastating conditions.
