Julianne Moore Goes for Gold in Bottega Veneta and Tilda Swinton Embraces Textural Elements in Chanel at the Premiere of ‘The Room Next Door’ During the Venice Film Festival
Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton were the latest stars to grace the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival on Monday. The two Oscar-winning actresses attended the premiere of Pedro Almodóvar’s latest film “The Room Next Door,” in which Moore and Swinton star.
Both Swinton and Moore wore distinct looks for the red carpet event. Moore opted for a glittering gold dress courtesy of Bottega Veneta for her attire. The actress’ long-sleeve maxidress featured a slim silhouette and a V neckline. She paired the dress with bold gold statement earrings and a pair of platform heels to complete the ensemble.

When it came to her look for the red carpet premiere, Swinton took inspiration directly from the runway. The actress wore a piece from the Chanel spring 2024 couture collection, which made its runway debut during Paris Couture Week last January.
The color palette of Swinton’s monochrome-leaning look featured a delicate gray hue, with textural elements on the slightly oversize jacket, opaque buttons running down the front placket and layers of tulle at the cuff and hemline of the piece. Swinton paired the jacket with tapered trousers, which ended above the ankle, and pointed-toe pumps in a similar shade of gray.
Swinton spoke with WWD about the process of making “The Room Next Door,” working with venerated filmmaker Almodóvar and her relationship with fellow-Oscar winner Moore. “We’d said that we were drawn to find time to do something together and we couldn’t have dreamed of anything more fulfilling than this,” Swinton said.
“And again, the film looks at the landscape of old friendship: well, Julianne and I aren’t old friends, but we became close friends immediately,” Swinton said, adding, “We’re pretty much exactly the same age and so we have a whole frame of reference that is very harmonious and very easy for us to imagine having been friends for 30 years.”
