Wife of NFL Player Shares Unfiltered Opinion of Taylor Swift Supporting Travis Kelce at Chiefs Games
Kelly Stafford has come to a big realization about her feelings regarding Taylor Swift’s presence at professional football games.
The podcaster, who is married to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, opened up about feeling frustrated by the publicity surrounding Swift’s game-day appearances. The pop superstar has attended several Kansas City Chiefs games since September 2023 to support her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Kelly addressed the issue on her The Morning After podcast, the most recent video episode of which was released on Thursday, Oct. 31. Kelly began by asserting that she “never once said that I don’t like Taylor Swift.” However, “I kinda got tired of the Chiefs coverage of it—actually, the NFL’s coverage—of this budding relationship last year,” she said of the Swift-Kelce romance, which began in mid-2023.
Kelly hurriedly added that Swift cannot “do anything about” the way that the cameras recording NFL games often pan over to Swift’s box to show footage of her cheering on Kelce’s team. “It was a good business decision for the NFL, but I almost felt like it was outshining the games,” Kelly said. “I was, like, a little jealous of the fact that, like, they were getting all this attention—all of a sudden the football game was the sideshow.”

Kelly later added that she “had some jealousy issues” with Swift and Kelce’s relationship becoming “the main show in NFL football.” Even so, she added that she is “so thankful” to the “Cruel Summer” songstress for the people now tuning in for NFL games who didn’t watch them before Swift came into the mix. She’s even noticed a change in her daughters, whom she believes “love football more knowing that [Swift is] adjacent to it.”
“I honestly think my girls are, like, prouder of their dad because he’s playing a sport that Taylor Swift loves,” Kelly continued.
The NFL WAG herself has been a fan of Swift’s music for years. “I was a fan of hers when she was a country star, because her and I are the same age,” Kelly explained, adding that she “kinda grew up” appreciating the positivity of the 14-time Grammy Award winner’s music.
Though many Swifties enjoy seeing the pop star show up at Chiefs games to cheer for Kelce, some NFL fans voiced irritation in the last year when media coverage of NFL games included Swift’s presence. She was at several Chiefs games during the 2023 season—including the Super Bowl back in February—and has so far during the 2024 season attended three of the Chiefs’ home games.
