Beyoncé Went Topless for Her Second, Surprise Halloween Costume
Two is always better than one.
You didn't think Beyoncé would celebrate Halloween with just one costume, did you?
After dressing up as Betty Davis in a plunging zebra-striped bodysuit with furry statement shoulders and white stiletto cowboy boots, the pop diva played a game of one-upmanship against herself and won with a second, surprise look.
On Friday, Beyoncé debuted her second costume in honor of the spooky holiday and channeled both Prince and Apollonia Kotero, who co-starred in the music legend's 1984 Purple Rain film and was also the lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6. In a slideshow of snapshots posted to Instagram, captioned "Purple Nasty," Beyoncé began her transformation with a side-by-side compilation of the two stars.
On the left, Bey wore a purple trench coat that featured a popped angular collar with a billowy white blouse underneath. She accessorized with purple metallic thigh-high boots, a pair of matching gloves, and, of course, a purple guitar while styling her short hair in tight, bouncy curls. Meanwhile, to the right was her interpretation of Apollonia from the same era, in which she teamed a lacy black bodysuit with bright purple boots and a tailcoat jacket.
Towards the end of the carousel, Beyoncé seemingly pulled down her bodysuit and went topless, covering her bare chest only with her hands, which were clad in shiny purple opera gloves.
This costume, combined with her Betty Davis one, had fans speculating that a rock album might in the works. If true, the record would be the third installment of her three-act project, which already includes: her 2022 disco album Renaissance and 2024's country album Cowboy Carter. "Cmon act iii😍," one fan wrote, while another added, "Oh you clowning this year!!! I see what ACT III is!!" A third chimed in, "Never beating the Act III Rock Allegations."
