JoJo Siwa and Dakayla Wilson Split 3 Months After Taking Relationship Public: ‘We Have Gone Our Separate Ways’ (Exclusive)

JoJo Siwa and Dakayla Wilson have gone their “separate ways.”

The former Dance Moms star, 21, revealed to PEOPLE at the 11th Annual American Reality Television Awards on Monday, Nov. 18 that she and the So You Think You Can Dance alum are spending the holidays apart.

“We have gone our separate ways, but she is an amazing girl,” Siwa shared. “And I got my own fun holiday plans, and I know she's got her family that she's spent the holidays with.”

“I'm happy for her that she has [them],” she added.

Siwa initially confirmed her relationship with Wilson in August after posting a video online showing her telling a studio dance class that she had a “girlfriend,” followed by the crowd erupting in cheers. The pair could then be seen hugging each other and also screaming in excitement.

"Cats outta the bag 😺," Siwa captioned the video with Wilson tagged. The latter resposted the clip on her own page and wrote, "surprise shawtyyyyy 😽."

After launching her relationship, she then shared a photo of her and Wilson outside holding hands, captioned, "Perfect day 🖤." She also revealed that they had spent time together for a dance class Wilson was teaching.

"Girlfriend taught a dance class so i took a weekend off of being JoJo Siwa and became her All Star Assistant," she captioned a TikTok video of her dancing. "❤️‍🔥 @DAKAYLA WILSON broke my body in half for this but WORTH IT."

A month later, the “Karma” singer opened up about her decision to take her relationship public, telling PEOPLE at the time that they changed their stance on keeping their relationship private.

"Honestly I've been very open about not wanting to be public," Siwa said. "And so when we kind of got together, it was just — it was literally one day where she was teaching a dance class and the girls in the class and the boys in the class were like, kind of looking at us. Then one was like, 'Why are you here, JoJo?' And finally I just came up to her and I was like, 'Yeah, why am I here?' "

Siwa continued, "And I gave her [Wilson] the look like, 'It's okay, you can say,' and then they were videoing that, and so we were like, 'You know what? It's public.' "

It’s unclear how long the pair had been dating prior to the reveal. Siwa last dated TikTok star Avery Cyrus, but the pair broke up in December 2022 after three months together, deciding "that we are better off as friends!"

In November 2023, Siwa told PEOPLE that dating with her busy schedule has been tricky in the past, and that she tended to over-prioritize her relationships over other commitments.

"I'm a lover. I crave that. But it’s good, because I know when I’m in a relationship, I prioritize it, and sometimes a little too much and I cut out friends, cut out family, cut out career, and I only focus on relationships," she said at the time. However, she added that she looked forward to finding "someone to come home to at night, and cuddle and have a peanut butter and jelly with.”
