MAFS' Morena Farina reveals unrecognisable post-show transformation

Married At First Sight’s Morena Farina is arguably one of the most unique participants to have ever appeared on the reality show. The 57-year-old mother-of-two is a DJ and fitness instructor who describes herself as a “firecracker with no filter”, and entered the experiment hoping to find someone who matches her energy.

The Italian bride gained a new lease on life when her 29-year marriage ended seven years ago and she’s since learned to put herself first and not lower her standards. She also became a DJ at the age of 53 and now gets paid to dress up, dance and meet different people every week.

While her journey with Tony Mojanovski is still playing out on TV, Yahoo Lifestyle has obtained footage of the bride after filming wrapped last year looking very different to her time on MAFS.

The video shows Morena sporting tight braids in a bright red ombré colour - a far cry from her blonde locks while filming.

Morena explains her bold transformation

Morena explained in the clip, which was filmed on December 19, that she had decided to switch up her look because she was DJing an event for “special kids”.

“I went to the gym this morning and quite a few people said, ‘What's with the hair?’. Um, what’s with the questions? What's the big deal? It's hair anyway!” she remarked.

“If I have to explain, I guess I will. I'm doing an absolutely special gig on Sunday and it's for special kids. So what do you do when you're confronted with special kids? I’ll tell you what you do. You’ve gotta bring joy, you’ve gotta bring love and laughter, you’ve got to bring colour, and you’ve got to realise that not everyone has what you have. So bring a bit of joy with a pure heart.”

Although Morena changed her hairstyle for the function late last year, she’s since reverted back to blonde as she continues to DJ and MC events around Melbourne.

Tony's bombshell confession that viewers didn't see on TV

Morena has been quite outspoken about her portrayal on MAFS and has used her business account to reveal what viewers aren’t seeing on TV. Last week she claimed that Tony made a bombshell confession at their first commitment ceremony which was completely edited out of the episode.

She revealed in a series of messages to 2023 groom Harrison Boon, which he shared to his Instagram Story last week with her permission, that Tony was still legally married to his estranged wife when he filmed the reality show.

While she didn’t have an issue with his marital status as she had also gone through a lengthy divorce process, she said that Tony admitted at the first commitment ceremony of the season that he was still in love with his wife and wanted the producers to bring her into the experiment.

“I don't care that I didn't find love,” Morena told Harrison in the leaked messages. “I don't care that he is separated and dating. I took three years to get my divorce so it's okay. What I care about is he told everyone at the commitment ceremony, which is this week, that he loves his wife. He told directors and producers, ‘Bring my wife in’.”

She went on to claim that the show’s producers told her to “stop talking”, “shut up” and “let it go” when she began speaking out about Tony’s bombshell confession because they weren’t planning on including it in the show.

“Well I didn't let it go and I still haven't let it go,” she continued. “This is why they're playing my character as I talk too much. Do I? I haven't even started yet. I don't understand. I'm actually happy. He loves his wife. I've actually told him that. Why didn't you chase your wife instead of this experiment?”
