MAFS intruder Teejay Halkias' surprising connection to reality TV and 2025 bride

While this season of Married At First Sight already features a handful of former reality stars, actors and influencers, another familiar face has now been added to the experiment as an intruder. Joining The Bachelor’s Sierah Swepstone and The Real Love Boat’s Paul Antoine as this year’s two-time reality TV participants is former Big Brother contestant Teejay Halkias.

Teejay, who is paired with Beth Kelly on MAFS, was a contestant on Big Brother’s fifteenth season in 2023 - aka the last season on Channel Seven before its cancellation. Similar to his experience on MAFS, he entered the competition as an intruder and was eliminated on day 19 in ninth place.

An insider told Yahoo Lifestyle in August last year that Teejay had been cast on MAFS to “save” the new season after a record number of participants quit in the first two weeks.

“Production favours people with prior TV experience because they know how to perform on camera and can deliver ratings,” they explained.

Teejay's connection to Jamie Marinos

Not only is Teejay familiar to reality TV fans, but he was also very familiar to one of his MAFS co-stars when he entered the experiment.

Daily Mail revealed in October that Jamie Marinos, who is paired with Dave Thomas Hand, had slept with Teejay before filming. According to the publication, the outspoken bride rocked the experiment when she revealed the news to the group at his wedding and “the whole atmosphere changed”.

A quick social media stalk reveals that Jamie and Teejay had liked each other's posts on Instagram up until June 2024, one month before she filmed her MAFS wedding.

Teejay is also close friends with 2024 bride Eden Harper as they are both originally from Adelaide but now live on the Gold Coast, as well as 2023 bride Bronte Schofield.

Who is Teejay Halkias?

According to his MAFS bio, Teejay is a 28-year-old business development manager who describes himself as a “loving, caring and tentative partner”.

He signed up for the experiment because he’s ready to settle down and become a dad, and his ideal match is someone who will make him laugh and “fill him with emotional and mental stimulation at the same time”.

Teejay’s profile on theright.fit also lists him as a model, actor and creator, and he has experience in photographic modelling, runway modelling, TV commercials and music videos.
