The Jacquemus Show Invitation is Nothing to Sniff At
NOTHING TO SNIFF AT: The invitation for the Jacquemus show on Sunday afternoon – a tissue box containing embroidered linen handkerchiefs – charmed front-row guests, and sparked a few theories about its meaning.
“Stunning. I thought it was such a fun, inventive way to invite people to the show,” said “General Hospital” and “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” actor Nicholas Alexander Chavez, who detected a “return to childhood” theme running through the creativity of Simon Porte Jacquemus.

“I’m shooting a movie in New York at the moment,” Chavez added, declining to go into particulars. “Everything’s confidential.”
“I imagined a woman who was crying for love,” was Laetitia Casta’s interpretation of the fancy hankies, which came housed in a hard calico-covered box.
The French actress said she’s writing a movie script set in the ’90s which is partly autobiographical, delving into her multiple connections to fashion over her career. “It’s partly a true story, and it’s a bit fiction, too,” she teased.
Vancouver-born Pamela Anderson said she was thrilled to be in Paris for the show – perhaps a bit too much.
“Every time I go somewhere, I want to move there. That’s a problem,” she mused, noting that “The Last Showgirl” will soon arrive in theaters in France.
Inès de la Fressange was planning to gift her tissue box to her daughter Violet, who is currently at university in New York and a fan of Simon Porte Jacquemus. “Something that you can keep is always better than something that you throw away,” she said, noting that the late Karl Lagerfeld, always with his finger on the pulse, was the first person who told her about the then-budding fashion designer.
De la Fressange recently wrapped 10 years of collaboration with Japanese fashion chain Uniqlo, but has many other tie-ups brewing with her signature brand, including ones with hosiery brand Dim, watchmaker Kelton, and swimwear specialist Vilebrequin.
The latter brand is prized for its novelty prints, but de la Fressange opted for a lot of navy, and touches of red. “I wanted to do something they don’t do because, if not, they don’t need me,” she said. “I did what foreigners call effortless chic.”
French actress Audrey Tautou said she’s getting more serious about photography, and is plotting an exhibition for them in Paris. She recently released a book of her photos, including selfies, titled “Superfacial.”
