Hilarie Burton has an update on the One Tree Hill reboot.

The White Collar alum, 42, recently opened up to PEOPLE about the status of the forthcoming project since it was "leaked" in August.

"When it was kind of leaked, it was very, very, very early in the game," says Burton. "So we're in the process of presenting things to Netflix, and they will get to decide whether or not it's greenlit. But I think the more people show that they're excited about it, the better."

Burton — who shares two kids Augustus “Gus,” 14, and George, 6, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan — would love to "make content" her teenager can watch with her. "That was kind of the best part of One Tree Hill, that parents and kids could watch it together, and be able to talk about stuff that's hard," she explains.

Burton is currently aware of "what's being turned in" and loves it.

"Our showrunner, Becky Hartman Edwards, is so good at female friendships and multi-generational shows, and that's why we were so excited to team up with her," she says. "So I feel very confident in what's being presented."

Ultimately, Burton hopes Netflix "goes for it."

“What if you really can go back home?” they wrote in a joint message in separate Instagram posts. “If there’s an opportunity to team with brilliant creatives and build a space where all our friends can show off their talents? Own our history? Reclaim our turf? Honor our fans? Sign us up.”

Burton and Bush then addressed One Tree Hill fans, writing, “There’s only one Tree Hill, after all. And you — the #OTHfam — have shown us that it’s not just an idea. It really is the place where everything’s better and everything’s safe.”

While details of the revival have remained under wraps, Deadline previously reported that the new show would be set 20 years after the first, as best friends Brooke (Bush) and Peyton (Burton) are “now parents to teens and facing challenges not unfamiliar to what they tackled in the original series like love, insecurities and grief.”

Jana Kramer, who played Alex Dupré on the show, further teased the plot during an episode of her Whine Down podcast, noting that Brooke and Peyton would be “coming back as moms."

One Tree Hill can be streamed in full on Hulu and Max.
