Hannah Einbinder Seemingly Responded To One Of Trump's Executive Orders In Her Critics Choice Awards Acceptance Speech

Last night, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards (aka the awards season's less pretentious cousin) really gave its winners time to shine — together.

Hannah Einbinder won her first Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the HBO Max series Hacks.

It's about time Hannah received flowers for her role as Ava Daniels, considering the number of nominations the show's received over the years.

For one, her costar, Jean Smart (who also received a 2025 Critics Choice Award), has won three Emmys, two Golden Globes, two SAG Awards, and now three Critics Choice Awards for her role as Deborah Vance. It was long overdue for the Everything Must Go comedian.

So, with this win, you'd think Hannah would have her moment alone to finally be in the spotlight, right? Wrong! The 2025 Critics Choice Awards awarded the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series simultaneously, so she had to share the stage — and the microphone.

Michael Urie won his first Critics Choice Award for his role as Brian in Apple TV+'s Shrinking.

Both first-time winners took the hilarious moment in stride, reminding everyone why they were being awarded the funniest supporting actors in television. Once alone, Brandon thanked the cast and creators of his show and his parents for loving and supporting him and his queer sister. As for Hannah, she had a mission.

Hannah addressed the nation's current climate crisis. "We are on the brink of a really dark era of climate denial, and Chevron scientists knew in the '70s that plastic recycling was not efficient," she began. "They knew that only nine percent of plastic is actually recycled, and even from that nine percent, it's only recycled one time. The fossil fuel industry is to blame for the climate crisis, and they need to pay to clean up the mess that they made."

"I just want to encourage everyone to fight for each other," noting that her stats might be off a bit, but the message is important. "Hopefully, we can all use our voices on this issue because planet Earth will be fine. It's humanity that's in trouble."

Hannah's daring speech is undoubtedly in response to President Donald Trump's unbelievable executive order to "ending the ridiculous Biden push for Paper Straws, which don't work." (His words, not mine)

In a characteristically head-scratching moment, Trump posted on his social media that he would go "BACK TO PLASTIC!" It riled people up, to say the least.

It's a good thing Hannah took her moment to respond because, as a critically acclaimed comedic actor, she knows there's a time to be funny, and there's a time to get real once you have the audience's attention. Now we need some politicians to follow suit because nobody's laughing, and this ain't a TV show. It's our reality.
