Grant Ellis Wonders 'What Did I Sign Up For?' in “Bachelor” Season 29 Premiere with First Impression Rose Twist
The day trader met 25 potential future wives in the Jan. 27 debut of his season
Grant Ellis hopes to trade in the single life for a committed relationship.
In the Jan. 27 premiere of The Bachelor season 29, Grant, 31, met the 25 women who wanted to fall in love with him.
“I’m ready to get married. I’m ready to have kids,” the day trader told the cameras. “But at the same time, I’m nervous.”

To quell his fears, Grant met with his family, including his mom Renee, dad Robert and grandma Corine. Grant wanted to give his grandma the honor of receiving his first rose.
“You’ll always be my first impression rose, Grandma,” Grant said to Corine. “Love you.”
LIMO ARRIVALS
Fittingly, Rose stepped out of the limo at Bachelor Mansion first. “Can I be the first to actually say, will you accept this rose?” the registered nurse, 27, asked Grant.
Grant accepted Rose — and moved on to meet Litia. The venture capitalist, 31, described herself to Grant as “really bad at basketball,” but she gave him a bedazzled basketball so he could help teach her. “If you bring the skill, I’ll bring the sparkle,” Litia said to Grant.
Next, account coordinator J’Nae chalked up with Grant to help get out their “pregame jitters,” pediatric behavior analyst Parisa expressed her excitement to be there with Grant and public relations producer Carolina from Puerto Rico spoke Spanish to him. “I gotta invest in some Rosetta Stone,” the former basketball pro said.
New Jersey native Alli Jo delivered pizza in the shape of a heart for Grant and asked him, “Will you accept a pizza my heart?”
Grant did, and then, he met attorneys Dina and Radhika and interior designer Allyshia, who brought a magic lamp in hopes of getting her wish to be with the season lead granted. PhD student Natalie gave Grant worry stones, Belvery wore a sash that said “Mrs. Ellis” and Alexe surprised Grant with a furry friend.
“I thought, why not introduce you to my no-drama llama,” the Canadian speech therapist, 27, said when introducing a real-life llama named Linda to Grant.
Client service associate Juliana stressed the importance of her Italian roots and asked Grant to share a cannoli with her, which he obliged.
Social media manager Bailey immediately tested Grant’s skills as an Instagram boyfriend and asked him to take pictures of her when she showed up at the mansion. “I feel like my lifelong partner will know all of my angles,” the 27-year-old said to Grant.

Associate media director Sarafiena arrived with a giant cutout of Grant’s head and retail manager Kyleigh brought chips and salsa, followed by luxury travel host Ella, ICU nurse Rebekah and marketing director Christina’s arrivals.
Pediatrician Neicey told Grant she could “commit to something for a very, very long time” because of her commitment to medical school.
Interior designer Kelsey stepped out in a Mrs. Ellis basketball jersey, while wedding planner Savannah entered with a wedding cake. “I thought we’d get a jumpstart on ours,” Savannah, 27, said to Grant.
Nightclub server Vicky's “Viva Las Vicky” sign got the party started, and Zoe kept it going with a T-shirt gun that shot out shirts with her and Grant’s faces on them.
“I think that we’ll make a great power couple, and every power couple needs some merch,” the tech engineer/model, 27, said before she and Grant shot some T-shirts inside the mansion.
COCKTAIL PARTY AND ROSE CEREMONY
With all the arrivals complete, Grant headed into the mansion to give his first toast of the season.
“I want to be a husband,” Grant told his suitors. “I want a wife. I want to be a father. I want to have a family and I’m here for love, first and foremost above all. I have a question that I want to pose to each and every one of you: what does love mean to you? To me, love is the little things.”
Grant proceeded to explain that “a kiss, a hug, a conversation when you had a long day at work” all mean a lot to him.
After Grant wrapped, Bailey grabbed him for a conversation. She gave him a bob wig to match hers, and they took another selfie.
“What did I sign up for?” Grant asked the cameras.
Parisa presented him with a PowerPoint of what their lives would look like together, but Allyshia gave him something a little more exciting: his first kiss of the season.
“There is a connection, there is a spark there,” Grant said in an on-camera interview. “And I’m feeling it.”
Juliana played the piano for Grant, which “immediately” got Grant’s attention, he told the cameras.
The party came to a halt when another woman arrived unexpectedly. Grant’s suitors suspected she might be an ex-girlfriend of his, but she turned out to be his sister Taylor. Taylor proceeded to show the women photos of Grant as a child, including one where she dressed him up. “You’re welcome for the fashion sense,” Taylor joked to Grant.
Then, Taylor got real with the women hoping to win her brother’s heart. “Grant has not been honest with you all,” she began. “He’s not here to get engaged. He’s here for way more than that. He’s here to find his wife, his soulmate, his best friend, his everything.”
After that, host Jesse Palmer introduced the first impression rose and announced that, for the first time ever, the recipient would also go on the first one-on-one date with the Bachelor.
Grant continued speaking to his suitors, sitting down with Alexe to learn French, an homage to her Canadian roots. “She’s funny, really smart and she works with kids,” Grant observed in a confessional interview. “Alexe is going to make a great mother, and that’s what I’m excited about.”
As a result, Grant decided to give Alexe the first impression rose. “Aside from being beautiful, I think that you’re funny, you’re smart, you’re intelligent and I had a great time,” he said to Alexe. “So Alexe, will you accept this rose?”
She did, and then Grant headed to his first rose ceremony to give out more roses.
“I’m going to have to let some people down,” Grant said to his suitors before the ceremony. “So whatever happens tonight, I just want every one of you to know that I’m trying to find my person.”
Grant ended the night by handing out roses to Litia, Rose, Zoe, Ella, Alli Jo, Natalie, Juliana, Vicky, Carolina, Beverly, Bailey, Dina, Chloe, Rebekah, Sarafiena, Allyshia and Parisa.
